Beware of Microsoft!!!

My 360 Elite has basically started to refuse to read any disks at all....

I have had it for just under a year, I won it from Real Incentives

Basically, even though I have had it under a year, because Ash bough it in September the warranty started then, Ash is the customer not me!!

They have requested a proof of purchase as even though it was not registered it was showing as having ben bought 13 months ago!!

So for those of us who recieve these items free whether as prizes or as hard earnt freebies beware of Microsoft as they are being pedantic muddyfunsters!!

My xbox cant have been bought in September as i recieved it directly fom the supplier in October!! Microshaft will not enlighten me as to who they have as the registered purchaser!

Of course I can pay for the repair no questions asked!!!!

i can see if i can find my amazon receipt for mine if you want, circa april time, with a little bit of photoshop, we could make it show your name & address

they are tracked via their serial number, the retailer shows this as being sold over 12 months ago!!!

microsoft offer 3 year warrenty on the xboxes so dunno why they are being arsey with you.
m8 buys the 3 rings of death from ebay and sends them back miccysoft all the time.
kick off with them and say you are going to contact trading standards as for a big company like microsoft the level of support is ****e.

I thought it was 1 year warranty, but extendable to 3 years for £49

Yeah, Microsoft have extended the warranty free for XBox 360s... :S

3 yr warrenty is only for the 3 rings of death, but this isnt the case with icks

edit: you can buy a a disc drive cleaner from game for about £5
worked with my mates xbox.

wrap the xbox in a towel and leave it on until it becomes UBER HOT !!!!

Then it should get the 3 red rings fault ...... then send it back again under the 3 years 3 red rings warranty extension.

If you then receive the same xbox back and it still doesn't read disks, phone up and play hell ... saying that it read disks fine before you sent it away.

yeah, it is saying tray open, so it look as though the tray switch isnt working properly!! probably hit with a high velocity 2p!!

i think i have discovered the problem.... using google... but have to decide if I am brave enough to open the case!!!

Apparantly there is a cable that runs to the sensor to say whether or not the tray is closed, it must be this.
