Find me a TV please !!!!

Hello,

Im thinknig of going for a TV as my next freebie, but dont want to go for a sony bravia 40" for 40 referrals. Im thinking of doing a custom order (probably from amazon - dont know other sites that would be valid).

Can anyone refer me to a decent tv preferably 20" + and as few referrals as possible?

Thanks,

nim3.

What you going to use the TV for? Normal tv, freeview (or any of the bt vission/tiscalli services that use freeview), sky, virgin media, console's (if so which ones), pc/laptop monitor?

Re: Find me a TV please !!!!

As john says you need to first decide what scaling you are going to be watching as this wll have a massive impact on your choice of Tv.

If i were to currently reccomend 1 TV it would be the Panasonic PX70 (there is a PX80 but the differences are minimal)

It was the 37" TV of the year last year and can now be picked up at a bargain price (after the release of the PX80)

It is a plasma, this gives you a good balance between standard and HD viewing, also due to it being a plasma you get a better colour reproduction than on an lcd, and no pixelation (as found on LCD's)

The only downside is that Plasma'a can get screen burn, whereas LCD's can't. However i challenge anyone to get burn on a Panny PX70.

PANASONIC TH-37PX70B Fantastic picture quality at an amazing price with this 37" HD Ready Plasma TV with built in Freeview from Laskys Panasonic

The stock of PX70 is dissapearing fast, so you might wanna take a look at a PX80 instead.

Thats my 2 penneth anyway!

Be hard to beat the following for value ATM:
Sony KDL-32V4000 - 32" Widescreen HD Ready Bravia LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Has all the inputs that you could need and bravias have a great pic and sound quality + i personally love the interface in the TV guide/menus etc.

Not sure if 32" is too big, but under FJ's new £20 per ref custom order policy it would only be 19 refs...tempted myself!

It means it has freeview built in. You can still use Sky though.

Thats fine, it just means the TV has its own internal digital tuner so you can view all free to air channels out of the box. You can of course use sky by just plugging in through scart or if you get sky hd through hdmi.

Pretty impressive that it has 3 HDMIS, as well as presumerly 2 scarts, component and normal AVs and VGA inputs!
