Student loans.

Has everyone got their conformation letter? I got mine today and was shocked how much im getting, including a grant. Ive been bouncing all day lol.

Just wondering on the letter I have 2 payments for the tuition fee loan:

04/02/2009 : £627.50

06/05/2009 : £627.50

So this money will go straight to the uni, correct? Plus im sure in my uni i have to pay when I enrole would this be the case?

Casting my mind back a fgew years ago now but we had to pay one installment when we enrolled in the form of a cheque I think

Im getting my loan for living costs in 3 installments. same dates from both SAAS and the SLC so from bursary and loan i get about £1600 on the 24th of this month and the same again in january and a little less in april.

Im getting a tuition fees loan for the full £3145 and it's being paid directly to the uni.


I'm fairly sure you don't have to pay when you enrol. I think you have a certain amount of time to get the money in for tuition fees (assuming your loan for it isn't for the full amount?) But i'm not really sure how long. Best thing to do is to check the SLC website for info or send them, or your uni a quick email

Thanks. Well im getting over £1600 on the 22nd of sept when I start, so its not like i wont be able to afford it. But I just got confused with the paperwork.

My tutition fees are only £1255 hehe god bless the welsh assembly.

I'm off to Cardiff. I have to pay full because im scottish though lol

On the same but different note I got my letter through saying that im eligible for the £30 EMA Yipeeeeee

No swansea. However when i went to the Cardiff open day i had this foreign studentshow me around ( Not saying ur foreign or anything lol) and he said he got the welsh tuition feee grant. Thats why welsh unis are so popular

And grats on the EMA. I hered there was a backlog

hmm, i didn't even know i could apply for one, it didnt mention it through SAAS

Just to let you know...if you applied for a tuition fee loan it will directly be paid to the uni, all you have to do is take the letter you get from the student loan people with "take this to enrolment" on. Easy as pie!
