With the greatest of respect, what did it actually have to do with you?

He made a comment about PO boxes and postmen, and as you know i am one so feel qualified to answer, and to "put the record straight" and that should have been the end of it.

If you think my comment saying "wrong" was harsh then fine but, what did it have to do with you? i wasnt having a go at you. The topic would have ended many moons ago had you let it.

He based his opinion on one personal experience, and basically implied that the majority of people felt this way also so my my personal experiences, I put my side which has more facts than his because I work with PO Boxes every day.

If someone came on here and said that the majority of users think FJ is crap based on one experience, I'm sure that many replies would follow telling him that he was wrong and thats exactly what I did and that's where it would have ended but you didnt need to get involved unless you have some experience of PO Poxes that you want to share?????

I think that lots of comments said are harsh but i don't think it's always my place to reply and hopefully this discussion is now finished. Good, thank you.

without taking sides here lemme just say i agree with that, some posts on here can seem a little impatient with other exceemers but thats just forum politics i guess. it's just the usual way people learn how to post responsibly.

Are we even talking about the same thing. Or am I missing some of your posts because from what you've said there I must be.

I saw no mention in your initial post of you putting your side. It was only when he made his stupid misguided comments about workshy posties you responded. And then you didn't cause you couldn't be bothered wasting your time (and tbh I was rather curious myself since I would also be wary if a company had a PO box address).

And if someone were to post that FJ were rubbish we both know the thread would be inundated with posts to the contrary. And most if not all of those posts would contain reasons why and/or links to proof. Yours didn't and since it seemed to have cause this newer member to make some rude and misguided comments, presumably in anger I thought I'd be nice for a change and stick up for the poor shmuck. Last time that happens.

And btw it takes 2 to keep a discussion going. You want it to end, simply don't post.

Now, even though I've incurred the wrath of arcticfox and possibly just ostracized myself from the community forever I still have to ask...are you going to tell us why people in the US have mailboxes at the end of their garden. Is it because of their trespassing laws.

royal mail had a strike last year, the first one for 10 years and I bet you dont know what it was about? Clue, it wasnt about money.

If you order dvds from the back of the sunday sport and then get ripped off, tough but after working for royal mail for 10 years I think I do know what I'm talking about.

1. plenty of clue about post office....mother worked there for 30+ years. grandad and father were miners most of their working life.
2. so tell me what was the strike about, i seem to remember it was about proposed restructure and job cuts, oh as well as the union rejecting the 2.5% payrise? i could be wrong, or just real stupid....
3. miners last striked a long long time ago....and why was it so long ago? cos theres no bloody mines left, and hasnt been for years
4. do you really think i ordered the dvds and got ripped off? it was a joke...my god

i suggest you get a new job sunshine obviously working for royal mail has sucked the life out of you. it happens, ive seen it with loads of people

sigh I didnt comment on what you said because your comments then made it clear that you labelled your mum, dad and grandad as being workshy etc. and i'm sure they werent but you implied all postmen/women and miners were. Thats the problem with labelling people, sunshine

if YOU have a problem with an infraction, i suggest you take that up with whoever gave you it and not me, because members cant give infractions

I have looked it up. And the mailbox thing seems to be dependant on where you live.

Some places have their mailboxes on the street so the postie doesn't have to get out his little cart (bet you wish you had one of those arctic ) and I think that is the case in places where there is no sidewalk so it is safer for the mailman. Some streets apparently have groups of mailboxes at the end of the street, like the ground floor of an apartment block and residents would have to go and collect their mail. And some places are the same as the UK where the postie has to post the mail through the slot on the door.

Don't know if its the same reasoning for delivering the paper though.
