Thats because over here a PO box is mainly a luxury here whereas over there many people have no choice than to have one. There is also more competition over there from postal companies.

question for peeps....when you watch all these US TV shows and film do you ever wonder why so many people have these boxes at the end of their properties to put mail in and ever wonder why paperboys throw the papers at the houses rather than deliver them.

When you think about it, you dont see many houses in films with letter boxes.

Does anyone (apart from me) know why? lol

my guess would be... less terraced housing makes it impractical to walk up every huge driveway?

or is it to do with trespassing laws, eg.. the paperboy is not insured on private property by his employers

When did the miners last strike? Kinda makes you romment look real stupid now, doesnt it

If you order dvds from the back of the sunday sport and then get ripped off, tough but after working for royal mail for 10 years I think I do know what I'm talking about.
What miners, there are none left to strike!

And tbh arctic you were a bit harsh on the guy. He gave an opinion based on his experience and you simply told him "wrong" which imho was a rather harsh way of saying it.

And I always assumed the paperboys just threw the papers cause they didn't want to have to get off their bikes.

He stated that "po boxes over here are generally looked upon as being well dodgy and usually as a front for a shady company or individual trying to look reputable" which was a way off assumption rather than fact. His experience, which he posts later about, didnt surprise me that he was ripped off.

Basically if someone has an opinion, that's fine but they cant speak for everyone when they make it. Its like me saying that everyone thinks the UK freebie sites are well dodgy because i had a bad experience with one that isnt on exceem and promised me a gift that didnt come ( I havent done this, its just an example)

His posts later on show his ignorance regarding miners and postmen, again he obviously has no knowledge of either.

I'm sorry if you thing I'm "harsh" but people should use facts before they post rather than assumptions. I'll be interested to know hios profession so i can make wrongful assumptions about it

But he qualified it by saying it was his experience. And in his experience that may be the case, that it is not just him but other people he has come across that think companies using PO Boxes is dodgy.

As for making assumptions, I'm pretty sure we've all done it. For example you assumed the advert was in the back of the sunday sport or was the kind of advert you'd find in the back of the sunday sport. We've all assumed someone hasn't read the rules when the post their ref link when they might have read them but be trying to get away with it anyway.

Yep, but it's still very annoying though. Especially when your 'assumption' manages to offend people who aren't even involved in a debate.

Lol, I know but when he says "i certainly wont be ordering a load of the videos that they advertise in the back of the sunday papers again let me put it that way" I cant really think of any other videos that would be there

His use of the words "generally looked upon" make it seem that the majority of people think the same way as he does.

An example is saying freepay are "generally looked upon" as being slow to send out gifts, this is indeed true and not an assumption.

If I said students are "generally looked upon" as being lazy, stay in bed most of the day and go to bed about 4am after playing video games all day/night that would be wrong as I'd only be basing that on a few thousand students that I've known and not the majority, lol.

I'm not arguing with you Null, just pointing out that someone needs to post facts rather than making it up.

Anyway, I'm off to KFC for one of those boneless banquet meals that i keep seeing advertised
