ok heres the crack, the school in behind the leedslearning proxy, very tight all ports bar 80 and a few others are open, they have a massive filter system also.
i use ranger in the school which updates daily with known websites ive blocked re: i block games so any new games sites discovered are added to the system.

u cant vnc out, remote access is via secure tokens only, proxie websites are auto detected by the leedslearning system.

u have to understand the leedslearnig system covers 95% of all leeds schools and the council buildings.

its huge and aint no push over when it comes to getting round it.

There are always round it. Just need to learn how. I am a Computer Consultant for a large investment bank in London. Previously I worked for BT as a computer consultant. One of my projects was setting up broadband access for 300 schools in Essex via the Essex LEA and Cable and Wireless. The setup is similar to the one you described, but still if you know how you can get round it.
