Where did you get that from? That can't be true, it'd be counter-productive for so many degrees. Unless you meant just economics. No, still not true. (Entrance Requirements - University of Oxford)

I'm at Oxford uni now, studying maths, and I didn't do a foreign language AS-level. And I shouldn't have either as it would have been a waste of a subject for my application.

Explain yourself joe.

Well done everyone

And in response to the halls of residence discussion- I disagree, well, I know it's a blast for a lot of people, but I did it for a few months and thought it was, erm, pants! I met some nice people, but I guess i'm too much of a princess and I hated the cramped-ness, the having to share a kitchen with messy people who smoked all the time, the EXPENSE of such a dive compared to just renting a place for yourself.....that's just me, but i meet plenty of people out and about at uni who I make an effort to do stuff with when i'm about.

I just chose the 'hang on to the bf' option lol and I couldn't be happier 3 years down the line. So Ainslie, you may find you're glad you didn't bother. On the other hand, if you feel you're missing out, i'm sure you can still apply because spaces do come available as people leave in the first few weeks

You don't need a foreign language. I have plenty of friends going to Oxbidge, and they didn't do a foreign language (some did/most did not).

I'm very pleased with my five A's: Maths; Chemistry; Physics; Biology and ICT. Hopefully I'm into my first choice, but they haven't updated the UCAS track because they didn't get one of my grades, so I had to fax them a copy and they've not got back.

I do agree halls aren't for absolutely everyone but I loved halls. I just finished my 1st year in halls last year and it was the best time ever. Met some great people and had an awesome year. I would say to anyone thinking about not going into halls... you should, you'l be missing out big time imo if you don't. It's a once in a lifetime chance. I personally can't wait to get back to uni in september... living in a house this year with some other fellas I met last year so is going to be a great year...

Some really good results up here guys, well done to all! I'm off out celebrating tomorrow (work in the morning). So, my results were as follows:
Religious Studies: Philosopy & Ethics: B
Geography: B
English: Language & Literature: C

Sure the BBC rigged my results! Very pleased!

Re: A Level Results!

Got my A-Level results:

Media Studies: A
Business Studies: B
PE: B

Pretty happy, dunno what to do now. Probably uni in 2009, have a year off to earn some money and help the debt, that will come with uni.
