I understand this mate, but I think we're talking about the ethics of downloading too

My music taste is massive. You can't say who's the best guitarist in the world mate, different guitarists are better at different things, you could be the fastest, most creativity, most unique. Angus Young (AC DC) and Slash are great because they were unique in what they did and brought out new kinds of music, same with Nirvana, it wasn't done like that before, brought out new genre's. There are lots of heavy bands which are just noise to me, and sound like the next band, but you have to respect how well they can play even if you hate the music.

Catch my drift?

This is going a bit off topic... but it's my thread in a sense, so I don't care!
I respect your decision if you like it, and I'm just saying that I don't like it, not that it's all rubbish, you never know i might grow to like it one day! For example, I know of a band of people my age and they can play the classic songs so well, but the songs they make are dire imo. Nearly every band out there will be able to play really well, but some are not so cut out for the composition side of things!!

For a band to work the best, it's good that the strongest composition person (lol, that don't make sense) has the final say... but that's when split occur etc :/

Re: Virgin warns illegal internet music downloaders

OMG that stupid advert on DVDs that you cant skip is soooo anoying. How can they compare downloading to stealing a car or a purse.

Half the music and movies these days arent even worth buying or going to the Cinema.
If I truly like something and think its worth the money Ill buy it.

Hollywood claim they lose millions of $ to piracy, but dispite that claim their profits go up every year. Even if this is the case screw 'em I like to see the rich get poor.

The truth is Piracy has never been a serious problem. Piracy has been ou since the VHS recorder. Do you know what they said when the first VHS recorder came out, "Oh no now they are going to record and copy all our movies" BS, it opened a whole new market for them. Its the same with downloading, they just need to make the best out of bad situatons.

Don't know about you but I can! I just skipped it on Prison Break Season 1 Disc 3 with no problems

Just "skip" button and then onto the screen with the copyright info (now that you CANNOT skip, unless you have done something to your DVD player or DVD...)

Anyone else?? Im surely not the only one that can skip this thing??

I understand It's Ilegal and everything, but I also think for some people It's a good way of seeing If you like an artists work withour shelling out money first.
I did It years ago and now I have bought music that I would never have done without hearing all the album first.
Not condoing It,but just saying It can also help artists reach people they might not have done.

That advert would you steal a car, purse etc
If I could down load them yes!
Also if the chance of getting caught was as low as it is with downloads then yes, I don't know anyone who has been caught, I would be interested to hear the stories from the first page of this post?

TBH, I'm not sure that would make a difference....

A teen is no more likely to spend 49p on a song than he is 79p on a song when he can get it for free of Kazaa or some other illegal p2p downloading site...

No matter how much you cut the price down, unless you cut it down to under 10p, the illegal downloading will only fall by a fraction. The only people it will really affect are the people who download legally, the companies such as itunes, and the artists...

I thought radio shows were good for that

While some of you are against it, I am for it for a couple of reasons
- music producers get a small cut of the ££ anyway, most goes to the labels, downloading while harms the profits of a company, harms the producers pocket more
- music downloaders add a great overhead to virgin media's network, I know when I used to try to access it on a evening whilst living in Headingley (student zone in Leeds) during summer time, I could play online games with great pings, during term times, I could hardly get connected

I know this old but this 3 strike thing turned out to be rumours, sure it was discussed but virgin media didnt agree to it, saying that it was "draconian"
