If it really is true, I hope O2 doesn't make customers buy the contract at the shop.

UBS analysts think the iPhone will be available in Europe for as little as 99 euros, and suggest O2 could susidise the cost of the phone, meaning the price to the consumer dropping to £100.

Ben Wood, a CCS Insight analyst, said: "They are also looking for more flexibility on how the operators can price the iPhone, although I am not convinced that they will let them have open season on the price, as they have a lucrative iPod market to protect".

Prob means it will only be £100 if you sign up to an O2 contract.

Oh so it's like £100 with the pricier contract and more expensive for the cheaper ones?

So you can't just buy the phone, you have to buy the contract as well

Yeah, if u read the article its saying they are making deals with the networks so they can susidise the cost of the iphone with you taking out a contract.

I wouldn't build your hopes up on that as the write of the article is renowned to being someone with no idea and there are so many rumors going around only a select couple, if any, will be true.
