Buying a Guitar!

Hey!
I have saved up enough money now to buy a nice electric or electric/acoustic guitar. Now it is the time to decide which one to buy!
I am willing to spend from 100-300 pounds, but i am not sure what is the best buy. Could I have some opinions please? Thanks

Nonesense! They are awesome guitars! A strat is your best bet if you are startin out - very versatile - but I have a Telecaster and it's awesome.

Mind you the strings are a bugger to change!

Its not your average Tele, it has the feel of a tele but the beef of a les paul with the 2 humbuckers...

Ive got 2 seymour duncans in mine and its amazing.

Re: Buying a Guitar!

two of my friends swear by them, and one is such an awesome player. i just personally don't like them.

well for a beginner, everyone seems to love the epiphone SG's, but they sound crap.

just a nice strat will probably do you.

Duncs are pretty damn good as pickups go, only problem with humbuckers is that yu lose the high end tone without the single coil treble pickup

I always recommend one of these to learn on, cheap but decent guitars. This one is a good price Fender Squier Stratocaster Guitar Pack - Black , Fender Guitars - Toys R Us

Or this one looks a bit nicer, but is £50 more Fender Squier SE Strat Pack in Sunburst with Squier Amp Andertons Music Co Guildford Surrey

In either case though the Amps won't be very good. You could put some of the extra you have left over towards a better amp and/or maybe a cheap FX unit.

I would also look into getting thm set up. You will be amazed how much better one of these will sound and feel once you get someone who knows what they are doing to set it up

Yeah, they are nice guitars, have nice action on them, but they are too "indie" looking now, even though Slipknot's guitarist uses one!

I personally love Les Pauls - I have this Epiphone Les Paul Custom - Ebony (31LPCEB)

It's a lovely guitar!

Also - don't go with Starter sets like Encore and Legacy as they are terrible, especially if you don't think you'll give up at playing So stick with Squire and Epiphone, and even if you do give up, you'll atleast have some value in it of re selling if you keep it in good condition.

I have a Vintage Les Paul also actually, they're actually okay! Although I never use it anymore.

Was something like this: Vintage ICON V100MR Electric Guitar S/B (V100MRCS)

oi !! i have a telecaster and its got amazing tone - spent alot customising it mind but its a great guitar .. i also have the prs tremonti , someone recommended the santana but i personally didnt like the feel of that myself. im also not a fan of squires , you need to go try out a few and see what feels right as well as what sounds good

anyway if your budget is £300 i would possibly go for an ibanez if you want to play heavier or metal stuff you can get some decent ones in your price range or you could probobly pick up a mexican strat for £300 too.

id definitly search the shops for used guitars too , me and my mates have picked up some great 2nd hand bargains/part exchanges in the past.

also if you go to a shop you should be able to get em to chuck a load of extras in, be cheeky do not leave without a couple of decent straps , leads etc they will always give you some.

Great thing about Les Paul, is that it can give a great sound to what ever you're playing

Go go, buy one

I can't stand Les Paul's, they feel wrong and sound terrible IMO. I find that with every Gibson I've ever played. I could tolerate a Flying V though, just because they look awesome, but I'm generally Fender all the way.

i would say if you have up to £300 then go for a nice PRS or Ibanez.

And for the record...I can't stand telecasters either
