Anyone know any good yet cheap laptops

Im looking to buy a laptop for my little brother jamie, he's just going into a sixth form college... i think its september time.

Anyway, its primary use will proberly be the internet for "research", so i suppose it will have to be wifi enabled and be pretty fast. Sorry about my knowlege on the correct terms.

I'd prefer a small screen laptop as well, as he will be lugging it around so making it compact is sort of essential.

If anybody plays football manager 2008? i know he is a huge fan of that so i dunno how you'd work this out, but it would be great if it could play that game

Thats all i can think of right now... apart from the price. This is a present for him, and im not exactly rich so i guess im looking somewhere below the £500 mark.

I know this might be a big ask but im sure most of you out here have a lot more knowlege on this kind of thing than me.

If you have any suggestions that would be really usefull thanks

take a look at the asus eee - 7inch screen, very portable, and only about £200. Might not be so great for football manager though

Yer but the 4gb is very hard to get hold of so you'd have to settle for the 2gb, by the time uve installed windows (pretty much necessary if you want to use office/play football manager) your left with pretty much no memory. Also unless your confident with modifcations, like soldering directly onto the mobo expansion is limited to the sd slot and usb drives.

The eee pc will however be more interesting in june/july when the new model eee pc comes out with the 8.9" screen and 16gb/20gb hd with windows/linux available out the box.

Cheap laptops - check out HUKD as theres always lots of good dell laptop offers floating around.
