The thing that gets me, is that if this were happening to sheep, or cows then there would be the biggest outcry about it. But because it's just chicken no-one really gives a s**t! If everyone was to buy free range, then eventually that's all that would be produced, and then the 'normal' price for a chicken would taken to be £3 or £4. I know that for people on low budgets, then 2 for £5 is very tempting. But instead of buying 2 chickens every week or two, just spend £4-£5 every couple of weeks on 1 free range chicken, or one of the Freedom Food ones. The supermarkets also have to stop giving farmers such a bad deal on their produce. |
