![]() ![]() | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!Congratulations guys, and 5! well done! I got the BCC that I needed to get into Queens. It's for the insurance offer though for computing and information technology. I emailed Queens when applying ages ago and was told that if I applied for the Meng in computer science (BBB) and I fell short, I would still be considered for the Beng (BCC). I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone at Queens as the lines are busy but my UCAS track says I have been unsuccessful with computer science and that I have been accepted onto computing and information technology. I am assuming I will get a formal letter in the post maybe tomorrow or the next day regarding my unsuccessful application for comp science and it should tell me about the alternatives ie. comp science Beng. I would hope so because Queens led me to beleive that I might as well apply for Meng as I will get the Beng if I get BCC anyway.

| MJ lady with maracas | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!Bazza once you get your foot in the door of the uni, if you work hard im sure you can pursade your tutor to get you put on the Meng course, at a guess id say most of the content in the first semester will be similar for both courses so should be easy to swap, if work hard of course Well done to all with their results

![]() | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!I know that for the engineering courses, the content in the first few years is identical irrespective of the course being masters or bachelors. Similarly, you can even switch between the disciplines during the first year, so the whole thing seems to be fairly leniant. I have read at many places that students who perform well enough in the first year or two can transfer to a masters degree. As Jon said it shouldn't be a problem As for me I got into my first choice, Southampton, for electronic engineering. Grades AABBC. I've submitted my maths for a remark since I was one mark off an A and if it is boosted to an A I will get a £1000 scholarship for having three A's!! Here's to hoping... |

![]() ![]() | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!Congrats Amos and I hope you get that A. Yea Jon thanks. I had read up on it all when I was applying, it did say you can transfer to the Meng at the end of year 2 if you perform well and are picked so that's what I will be doing for sure. I can't wait to get to uni now and do a subject I actually like! One day when my Chemistry teacher was shouting at me she said she would be thrilled if I got a C, and I did and it was almost a B so I couldn't be happier. I can't help but think sometimes that all the work in the three sciences was wasted because I could have done subjects I liked like ICT, PE or business studies or something and no doubt gotten way better grades. Ah well, I suppose it does help to have A-Levels in the three sciences and I got on my course after all.

| MJ lady with maracas | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!well the sciences along with the maths are the traditional "hard" a levels, well thats what my Mum said (I got BBBC - physics, maths, further maths, IT) Im sure the uni will bump you up a course sooner than the end of the second year if you prove yourself

![]() ![]() | Re: A and AS Level Results Almost Here!I was told at an information day that if you got something like all A's you get £1000 for my course. I forgot to say, if my application for digs at Queens Elms Village goes through I will have unlimited broadband in my room so you'll be seeing a lot of me on eXceem for years to come whether you like it or not! I will be using the quiet time at uni to get a lot of my studying done (had to do all studying and work for school in a house with 9 people including a baby), but I'm sure I will have time for eXceem Edit: Forgot to say I repeated all my AS maths modules because I didn't like the look of a D as my only AS grade. I got it up to a C too so I was pleased about that. Those are good grades you got Jon too!
