origins of eXceem

Just being nosey as curiosity has got the better of me, but where does the name eXceem come from?

Does it have any special meaning?

It started off when Trevor bought the domain exceem.co.uk and forwarded it to his referral link, hoping people would type his address instead of the .com torrent site they were more likely looking for.

yep in early 2005 i joined www.freeipoduk.co.uk
and i was racking my brain trying to thing of ways to get referals to my referal link
at the time the was a new bittorent site program just coming out called exeem http://www.exeem.com/ but it was frequently being refered to as exceem so i quickly bought the domain in the hope that people would find exceem while looking for exeem

and guess what it worked
people were typing exceem in all the major search engines and finding my site that was offering them a free ipod mini. and i figured that anyone looking for free mp3 files would be interested in the prospect of a free ipod mini and you know what i was right.

people searching for the new bitorrent site found my site they then signed up and i got my free ipod mini.

i was contacted by email asking if i would allow a local freelance photographer to deliver the ipod mini and take a photo for the site so i agreed.
i was the second person to get a ipod mini from www.freeipoduk.co.uk
http://www.freeipoduk.co.uk/testimonials.html (im the second photo with the abnormal hand that looks like its photoshopped to look like the alien out of aliens)(well i was the second person on the site but we got the ipod minis at the same time)
i then met a jon simmonds via a well known uk forum called martin lewis money saving expert http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/

and i gave him my freepay ipod referal link and promised in return to get him one for doing a offer. and i did just that
i then added a really buggy php forum to exceem and
then miles found my site and offered to help out.
and the rest is history

jon and miles but (mostly jon) dedicate a hell of a lot of there free time to exceem
and unfortunatly this is time or expertise that i never had or could have given to the site. so the exceem you see and use today is a result of jon and miles plus the help and dedication of all the mods on here.

im a family man that works all day and that takes up so much if not all of my time. Had it not have been for Jon and miles ( and the mods) . exceem would have closed down long ago.

people are always shocked to find out that i founded exceem.co.uk as they always presume it was jon because he is the guy that puts all the time and effort in to this site to make it what it is today.

i soon realised that i had started something that i couldnt finish. But thankfully exceem now has a group of people that have taken the site further then i could have ever imagined so thanks a million to them.
its a great community and i lookforward to its 10th birthday.

trev pretty much summed it up there but just to add once exceem became a forum it was more to share information and help others,rather than help ourselves so to speak!(you don't see the admins ref links plastered over the front page like you used to on 2 other forums that were similar to exceem but now closed)

yeh submission techs site freenanoipoduk could have given me atleast 3 for the amount of greens i got the site.
