Good idea for all people with Home made websites

if all our servers are PHP enabled, maybe we can have an open-source read-only MySQL db (so all data is submitted through the host server, but anyone can read the database) I can set this up in cPanel on my hosting but need to know the ip address of every server wishing to join the group!

a) The order of the links on the page won't matter

b) The amount of pagerank 'value' you get from being linked to is relative to how much pagerank the original site has. So simply hosting a website with lots of links with a low pagerank won't really do a lot of good.

so won't this go up? as one site's pagerank increases, it increases the rage rank of the others, which increases its page rank, etc etc until everyone has a nice pagerank!

if you want to boost your links you can get good directory addons for your sites

A well designed link page would be better than a script based solution to, and in terms of security.


(just create a page on the wiki to track whos in and who isnt in on this)

No, because you only gain pagerank by being linked to, so unless the directory of links is linked to from lots of other sites, the pagerank will stay low.

Yes so everyone who wants to be in the directory must place a link to the directory from their site. Therefore the directory will get eg 100 backlinks, and will also dish out a backlink in return to each of our sites.

I have one site with a PR 5 i believe and annother with a PR 1. The PR 5 is an old site with no real links to it, thats the problem - no one knows how google works!

Yes that may work, although the way pagerank works is by dividing the pagerank inherited by the number of outgoing links from the original site, so the amount of extra PR the target site gets is still going to be very small.

i.e. if the directory has 100 outgoing links, then each site will get PR(directory)/100 which won't be a lot.

What if we had only 10 links per directory page and distributed which directory page people should link to to get a good balance?
