Red Nose Day

Hi all,

As a foreigner who has been living in the UK for a few years now, I have to say I am quite impressed with the Comic Relief initiative. We see it everywhere for several weeks before the actual events, and loads of people get involved to do something et raise funds.
And I thought maybe we, eXceemers, could do something.
As we are a growing community on the web, with now aver 4 000 members, if we were to donate a small amount each (i.e. £1 or £2), it could come to a nice amount overall that an admin/supermod/mod could donate to Comic Relief from eXceem on behalf of its members. I was thinking the donations could be made via paypal to an address chosen by an admin/supermod/mod (as I don’t think it should be done by a ‘normal’ member for security and/or trustworthy reasons).

If you think it is inappropriate, please let me know, but as we are all trying to get things for free here, surely a small donations cannot do any harm.

If you would like to participate, Jon has kindly provided a link on which you can make your donation on http://www.myrednoseday.com/exceem.

Thanks

Re: Red Nose Day

TO add, ignore the fact it says sponsor me, it is sponsoring eXceem.

If for whatever reason you cant use a debit card (doubt it since both solo and visa electron can be used) you can donate in cash to any high street bank, or Oxfam shop (just state to them its a Comic Relief donation)

To view a selection of videos on Comic Relief check out this youtube page - http://www.youtube.com/rednoseday07

Just doing this, can I add Gift Aid even though my Mum pays the tax and not me?

Ok I just got round to make my donation (at last).
Come on people!
We have a goal to reach! And it would be great if we can get it by Red Nose Day (a.k.a. Friday 16th March).

Donated! Mum wouldn't let me use her card so I just used mine and didn't bother with the GiftAid! £5 may not seem like much to you guys, but to me it's a fair amount so I'm feeling quite proud of myself right now

Re: Red Nose Day

Thanks Darius.

I have to say I'm a tad disappointed by the lack of interest in supporting this cause. I notice that 2 out of the 3 people who gave so far are foreigners…
Red Nose Day is tomorrow. I know it’s a long shot, but if we all chip in, we can easily meet the target or even better, collect more!
Or as Darius said, if only a fourth of the members were to give only £1, we would be there already!

Nobody will juge anyone for not giving, or giving a small amount, but if we can make a change, lets do it!!

Ok, I will not give up on that!

Today is Red Nose Day!

It is unlikely that we will meet the target set by Jon, but we can still come up with something a bit more substential than £20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go now on http://www.myrednoseday.com/exceem and help a good cause.

Cant speak for anyone else but I happily give to charity but not when I cant take 2 steps without having people shoving buckets under my nose or tripping over people lying in tubs full of beans. Probably the reason that 2 foreigners have given is because this is the only way they can do so, Red Nose isnt thrust upon them at every corner and every shop that they go to.

Some people said they would give money when they get paid and i imagine that some will have already given to this charity in various places so I cant expect them to get over excited at parting with more money for the same cause but on a different website.

In my opinion, these kinda charities go over the top. You should give to charity because you want to, not because you feel you have to do so because of guilt.

In my opinion, if people want to give money to charity through eXceem, why doesnt exceem have a nominated charity that we can contribute to? Maybe change it every few months?

Yes, I'm Scottish and charity begins at home, lol

Well actually, I've been living in the UK for 5 years now. This is the third time I see Red Nose Day. The reason I decided to do something with eXceem was because I thought it would be worth it. I work for a company with only 25 people, and eXceem was the best way to appeal to a large audience.

I am not trying to make people feel guilty. I am well aware of the many ways to donate to this charity and I'm sure many eXceemers have used them. This is the lack of feedback and interest that surprised me.

Not a bad idea...
