advice please exceemers!

Bit of a weird question but do you know how i can ge legal advice on my website? my host says im 12 days overdue on payment so i offerd to pay the 12 days in order to get my files but they are saying unless i pay 40quid for a backup then its a no no. he said it would cost 40pound as that is 1 hours labour? im not paying that and surely those files are my property? fair enough take the site ofline but still give me access to the files? does that sound right to you?
What can i do people? any ideas?

If you desparately need the files then I'd say you'll have to bit the bullet and pay up.

Regardless of whether the hosts within their rights to ransom you*, it will cost you more than £40 to get advice and take any action.


*Would be interested to know from the legal eagles on here whether they can have a lien over data?

not sure about the legal side but it would take them 30 seconds to send you a backup (not an hour).

id suggest paying for the files, then find another host, and on the new host setup daily backups
