Routers/checking what people have been up to

has ur company got a sister site/sites anywhere in the country?
if so then 1 of them will be a domain controller ( they decide who has what access to what on each domain ie: sales see the sales data etc etc )
when u logon ur pc talks with the domain controller over ADSL in ur situation and request's permission to sign on, once ur logon and pass is checked the DC then allows u to access ur data, all of this activity is logged on the main servers (dc), so if for some reason they think ur office has a sudden uptake in data the admin guy will be wondering why?, it could be anything that causes more data on the connection from virus's to a dodgy ethernet cable, or in ur office's case someone has managed to access the wireless lan.
just be cool and act dumb if they do start pointing fingers just tell em what i said earlyer about having the window minimised.

But if I have been surfing exceem, checking my mail, using messenger, putting ads on certain acution websites these will all show up as seperate ips? then i'll be screwed right?

ps Harvez, what would you do if you caught a pupil doing something that wasn't classed as work during a free period. ie. reading posts on exceem or checking their freebie sites? I've barely ever been unbanned for a few hours, our guy takes it too far!

I allow quiet alot of sites but if a teacher reports a site then i have ban it,
all gaming sites are banned miniclip etc as the pupils just took the piss.
no copyrighted mp3 or music is allowed to be stored on my servers anyone caught lose access to there pendrives even if they are year 11 and need it for exam work.
im hard with em but fair.
each year group has a different level of access re: 6th formers can access msn etc as they are deemed as old enough and sensible enough not to abuse the system.

i could tell u a few tricks to make his life hell but i wouldnt want u to stick a pin into the data cable causing a loopback on the network that would be near impossible to track down so i wont.

I can remember when i was at some computer programming place and i was downloading photoshop CS2 demo, i did not know there is the load lights next to the desk i was sitting, one of the lads said "look, the server is going like mad, must be messing up or something", then i canceled he said "O, its fine now".

I felt really bad until i found out he was and others downloading music from kazza and the computer i was on, the guy that uses it was downloading everything and anything, quite funny in the end really.

All the tech guy has to do it check the server logs and check the sites visited etc or even just check your site history, best to wipe all your cookies, history etc before he comes and you could get away with it

wont work in my school cos ive banned all the known proxie sites lol and check the logs to see if the little darlings have found any others lol.
pin and cable trick is quiet naughty tbh but funny is the ICT guy as annoyed u
its hit n miss but a safety pin through the middle 7-10 times will cause a loop back creating a headache for ur admin guy just dont get caught and i aint said nuthin

im in last year at school at the moment and they use ranger here... the admins arn't that great at keeping on top of stuff thou! theres always ways round websites and filters which people just keep finding out... we mostly go on foreign game sites if were finished with work, banning flash player was the only thing that hit us hard!!! but we can still open flash from pen drives in IE7! if you got anyways round filters would be very pleased to hear them!!! got to keep these admins working hard... not just on eXceem all day


EDIT: also i dont get how proxy guys works! do u use the bottom bit to g onti the website you want or do you just keep proxy guy mimmised at the bottom of the screen? so much i dont know about internet! gota take it at college! ...(if i dont get apprentichip)
