In the New Year I will start to take action against members who use proxies to hide their identities, this wont affect people who have to use a proxy due to their isp, but I do know which isp's require this, and I do know when a user is using a proxy to hide their identity.

Why? to many users are doing this, and if you are having to hide your online location what else do you have to hide?

Hope you guys understand why this action needs to be taken

yeah, don't worry mate. A proxy is basically like a search engine, except you type in the site you want to go to and it will mask your IP with a random one etc... etc... They are right though. Action MUST be taken.

Also, what about people at work/school. Wont they use proxy's or something?

And why must action be taken for? If they dont want to be "open"...(i wouldnt know why though)

I think he's on about going through proxy websites. Like firewallsucks and stuff like that. But you know what the thing is, sometimes I can't get through to exceem but when I use one of those it works...that is the point of using it (for me)...anyways will just email you then!

u use KH blocker and loads of ip blockers, its for stuff like limewire, so people cant hack you, i got like 3 firewalls, gotta make sure now a days

Don't worry, Jon knows his stuff and will be checking these things out. I'm sure if, like Moz, you have to use a proxy on occasion that will be ok. It's really people that are trying to hide their identities that we're worried about. Regular members who use a proxy to get on to the site from a particular place should be OK, I'm sure we would pm you first. If you have a legitimate reason to use a proxy then I would suggest you let us know (by us, of course, I mean Jon !)

Having said this, we are not going to be soft on this - if we suspect anything dodgy bans will be issued!

being an oldie I dont really know about all this poxy proxy business but what about looking into people with more than one profile? Surely by having more than 1 it's showing they have something to hide.

I sometimes have to use a proxie, ntl for some reason for weeks would not let me see exceem, think I pm'd a mod regarding this before I joined.
I thinks its their dns servers or something?

aye, i do knwo the difference when someone is having to use a proxy due to work/school/uni/isp and when someone is trying to hide something, its the people who are trying to hide something who will face the wrath of Jon!

lol ok nop probs, plus i formatted my comp so no KH blocker or IP blocker on at mo, if u dont use hidden ip on peer2peer u more likely to get seen by hackers and otherrs

everytime you log onto this forum, the forum software logs ip's
from the mods user panel you can cross match ip's to see if anyone is using a proxie or loggin in with dif users name but same ip = multiple accounts
lots of other tools avil to them also which i wont let on.
