I'm in this for the long term as I quite enjoy it and as soon as I'm allowed I'll be a supporter. I can also Provide quite a nice flashchat room just for Exceem supporters for free! Admin/Mods, let me know  If there already is one, great! |

  | Re: Exceem Chatroomyeah the chatroom was ok when, if i remember right we had the odd arranged chat, does the irc channel still exist? i suppose the problem is there aren't all that many people logged on at the same time, and then only a few of them want to chat, so yeah it just ends up empty all the time, i think the best thing was when we just had a spam thread, and people generally chatted in that... Jon maybe you could set up a thread that had edit enabled for slightly longer than 5 mins, and perhaps auto cleaned up (read:backup and then delete) posts after 24 hours. oh and set it so you have to be say at least 10 days and 10 posts old, to access it, then you wouldn't need to worry too much about moderating it for link spamming, cos they'd be gone within 24 hours, you'd still be able to check the logs and ban people if needed, and by the time members saw it they'd probably know enough not to go signing up under peoples ref links just cos they were spammed. of course i guess you could also just ban link posting altogether, maybe set http:// and www. as naughty words? but maybe something like that would be good and not quite so much demand as a shout box. also if need be i'm sure a few of us older memeber could voulenteer to be mods for the chat thread. what do you think, sorry a whole multitude of ideas for you to wade through there. |

| Re: Exceem ChatroomOn my website we tend to have a Thursday night gathering in the chatroom, works well. All other nights a pretty dead unless someone starts a post to entice people in. |

| Re: Exceem Chatroomactually you could screen out most referral links just using a regular expression to look for /r=123456 probably ought to have that set up on every forum (other than the congas ofcourse) |

| Re: Exceem ChatroomI'm not sure on the number of active users of this site when the chatroom was launched last time, however I do believe it might work this time! I think some sort of JIRC applet availible from the site for those who do not know/use mIRC would be of good use. And as for people spamming their referal links - I doubt this would be a problem, operators will just ban them from the channel... |

| Re: Exceem ChatroomThere always seems to be a good number of people on in the afternoon time. A IRC channel would be easy enough to start and it is always worth a try. Although I do not think a flash chat room would do the job, always been a fan of IRC and think our own channel would be great, I have used it for years and moderated a fair few channels in my time and started some. I also know a great server for hosting a room, be nice to see where this goes. |

| Re: Exceem Chatroomjust use IRC, no frills, could easily program a "bot" to kick/temp ban spammers so op's don't have to be there all the time, i would suggest quakenet, spent most of my youth there!
