pc world problem

I brought a Samsung sync master 910mp LCD TV from pc world 8 months ago. I am very upset to learn that it was stated has HD-Compatible, but I have recently brought an xbox 360 to use with the TV and its not compatible for hd-gaming. The xbox 360 is 100% HD compatible therefore I feel I have been missold this product. In note of this I would appreciate an upgrade to an HD- compatible TV Is this possible I am willing negotiate to even pay more . I am currently paying monthly for the tv and have taken a cover for for 5 years

can someone shed some light on this
if its possible for me to return the tv and get an upgrade its hardley been used got the box everything its in mint condition.

thanks

Re: pc world problem

basically here are the specs for the tv

HDTV Compatible Yes HDTV-compatible means that the TV can receive a HD-signal(720p/1080i) and display it, but not with the highest HD-quality. This might be because the TV:s resolution is too low or the TV might be missing.

HD-Ready No High Definition TV (HDTV) means that a TV can broadcast signals of at least 720p or 1080i via any of the TVs inputs, usually the component-input. “HD-ready” is a license that can be executed by EICTA .

To be honest, I don't think they will do anything about it on the grounds that it doesn't support the highest (arguably the true?) HD resolution, as its technically HD ready by the sounds of things. Can't harm to try though.

Re: pc world problem

ah right good news found a review which stated---

"have also used the SyncMaster to play my Xbox360 on, using VGA connectors, and due to the 1280x1024 max resolution, high definition gaming is possible. Which is great for a £200 monitor, and although it doesnt look as good as widescreen HD-LCD's iv played in on, its definately a pretty good side-function in the form of HD Gaming to have avaliable"

so it seems that the vga cable is the chocie.
Its so wierd the xbox 360 looks like hd on my widescreen which is SD.

Re: pc world problem

game do their own branded vga cable for £15

You will need to use the audio in for the tv (since vga doesnt carry sound) or for better results if your hifi is next to your tv and has a line in use that

let me know what the guys in pc world say, though i suspect it will be a flat no guessing thier customer service

Re: pc world problem

Are you sure they told you it was HD Ready and not HD compatible? HD compatible means the TV can use the HD signals but it will not display them in HD.

From the specs you posted it appears they tell you that.
