Exceem - "Thanks"

Would someone tell me what this "thanked - times in - posts" is all about. Think i must have missed something!

Its a new feature that has been installed.. if someone posts a good post instead for just posting a "thanks" you can instead click on the Thanks button and it will show under their post that you thanked them.. I think the moneysavingsexpert forum has something similar also.. if you frequent their forums that is..

well, if you find a post usefull, you can click on thanks (bottom of the post, next to 'quote').
It increments your 'thanks' number and increments the 'thanked' for the member who recieved it.

Seems a bit american to me, "oh gee thanks for making a good post, you can thank me if you like it, awesome" :-s dont you think ?

I think the point was to avoid people making short posts such as 'thanks'.
But I think people 'thank' posts and then reply saying thanks
