Unfortunatly something called the data protection act may prevent something like this happening, people who did the lovefilm offer will know they did, and since all that is needed is to send in a support ticket with proof, I dont see what the issue is

As far as I understand a list of just email addresses would be unlikely to fall foul of the data protection act because email addresses alone aren't really 'personal data' for the purposes of the Act - you can't really identify someone from their email address alone, much the same as you can't identify a person from their home address or phone number alone. The only thing you'd really be in breach of would be any agreement not to divulge information to third parties for marketing purposes, but you could justify this on the grounds of necessity to verify signups. Besides, it would be very,very unlikely to ever get that far.
The problem I saw with this is that generally people who are referred to these sites don't know too much about how they work - and as such may be more likely upon finding their offer uncredited to dismiss the whole thing as a scam and give up than to find out how to go about getting manual credit.

It is very easy in some cases to find out alot more about a person from their email address (I have done so during my scammer hunting investigations)

True, but those who do want their freebie will fight for it, and the majority will fill in a support ticket to ensure they get a green

It took me a while to be credited but they do it eventually.
