Testimonials are now compulsory....

Hi all,

This is a bit of a minor change to the KUDOS system, but testimonials are now compulsory.

What this means is (from the T&Cs):

Upon receiving your free gift from us, you will be required to submit a testimonial in order that your account is reset for future use. This testimonial simply involves a rating of 1-5 stars, a small sentence or two describing your experience, and an uploaded photograph/screenshot of the item/transfer. The photo should have wording which says that it was received from us and the date you received it. A template is provided for this use in the feedback system. If you are unable to provide a suitable photograph/screenshot then please let us know via the SUPPORT system and we can reset you manually.

The reason Ive done this is because although the feedback system has been in place since the new launch, nobody has actually uploaded a photo. Most people seem to upload the template thats provided for displaying aganist your item. This is absolutely pointless and doesn't prove anything to prospective referrals.

These testimonials are there to help you guys prove the system works. Ive got a cool system for showing it all but cant launch until there are some to show. All photos received over the past few years are no good because I dont have any comments with them. So essentially Im starting again.

Hope that makes sense.

Lee

EDIT: Obviously if you have received a transfer of any kind (i.e. bank transfer) then a screenshot as opposed to a photo will suffice. Please ensure you blank out any personal information. If you forget I will do it before publishing the photo anyway so don't worry.

Wouldn't it have been a better idea to offer an incentive to those who provide testimonials instead of requiring people to do so.

This seems like the kind of thing that could put people off resetting and continuing with Kudos, simply the fact it is compulsory to get your account reset.

I also think this
Quote:
Failure to provide a satisfactory photo will result in your account being paused until an acceptable photo is received.
is going to scare the **** out of people and may put the few that actually read the Ts & Cs off from even starting.

oh and not everyone will be comfortable posting a screen shot of their bank statement/paypal (even with blacked out details) and not everyone will know how to blank out details or take a screen shot for that matter.

If they havent got the facility to upload a photo then thats fine.

People, Ive been doing this for a long time now. Ive tried everything and this is the only option that will work. I think you are taking it the wrong way. Its simply going to be a part of the process. 99% of people will be fine with submitting a simple testimonial.

Ive tried incentivising people in the past. Doesn't work.

Don't worry. Ill keep a close eye on it and can always change if it doesn't work. Fact is its not bribery or anything derogatory. Im just trying to make it part of the process. Just like pressing the order button to get your gift, you need to feedback to reset. Simples

Also this is for your benefit. Im doing this to build a solid record of testimonials so you can show to your friends etc.

EDIT:

I disagree! The only people that will be effected by this are those that have actually received a free item. At this stage is it really that much to ask??

I would just have written testimonials with the option post a picture, if they post a pic they will be entered into a monthly draw for a free credit.
I wouldnt have a problem doing that.

Thanks Harvez.

Ill give it some thought.

The system was as you described it. The upload part was entirely optional. And guess what. No bugger uploaded anything! Even with an incentive it seems people are unwilling.

Maybe Ive gone too far. Ill give it sometime and see what happens. The fact is it isnt actually coded into the system. You could upload anything. The "pause" status would be applied manually by me if I think the upload is worthless and could be better (ie. a blank image when they have ordered a Wii - photo could be very helpful).

Ill just see how it goes.

I have no problem with this in theory but as a lot of my recent gifts have been building materials and things they are not the greatest things to photograph. I am happy to write a testimonial and upload pictures of my standard gifts.

At the moment I have been receiving gifts but am living with my in-laws and do not have full access to the PC so am unable to actually photograph the items. I suppose I could take a photo on the iphone and email it to you for you to add to the testimonial.

Harvez idea is a good one about the testimonial being compulsory but the picture not.

I've had it like this and nobody bothers to upload a picture. The Testimonial page will look EXTREMELY boring with no pictures, and comments are worthless without an image to back it up.

Im not going to be strict with this guys! I just want to make it part of the process. If you really cant do it, for whatever reason, then thats fine.

If it is fine then you should change the Ts & Cs to show that it's fine.

What about allowing people to add an image after they have added their testimonial. That way they could reset their account and add a testimonial but without the hassle of needing a photo to go with it.

btw did the nobody include people on here who had uploaded images to the IGMFI section.

Ok, Ill amend the T&Cs so its less harsh, ok?

Adding an image after the fact would require a whole system to manage that. Ive got a million jobs on my plate atm. But I like the idea. Ill give it some thought. Between us all we will come up with the perfect system

I think this is fine now Lee, I have no problems uploading a picture and a sentence or two of how easy it was etc.

As mentioned above though, I do think some people will have problems uploading a screenshot of their bank account/paypal even if all but the proof is blured out. Not me personally, I'm fine with it but people are wary of personal details etc.

As long as there is a clear reminder to kindly say you are required to make a testimonial and your not too strict on pausing people's accounts who forget (I know you won't be though) then I think it will work fine. Your changing your site to make it unique and I like that

Yeah just similar to leaving feedback on eBay. And the more good comments surely only looks good for new people signing up

Make the incentive better?

And I don't think you're in a position to say this is the only thing that 'will work'. Most people won't mind spending a minute to do a testimonial if you make it easy for them to do so, but making it compulsory?! Bit of a strange move in my opinion.
