Facebook + kudos: stage 1...

kudosNetwork links with Facebook.

This has been in the prep stage for about a month and today marks the launch of stage one of the new Facebook+kudos feature.

I'm really excited about this new feature as I think it will help new and old members alike to get referrals from their untapped Facebook friends.

(This is featured on the 2nd edition of kudosNews, which will be in your inbox soon!)

So, "how will this actually help me get more freebies" I hear you ask.

Well, I will start at the beginning.
I'll touch on what it will do for you now,
and what it will do for you in the coming months,
and then I'll explain how to connect your accounts.

In a nutshell the feature is a bolt-on to all kudos sites (not points - yet) which allows you to integrate your social network with your freebie world.

Make sure you read in the spoiler as it contains clues as to what the next stages of this awesome feature will contain!!!

Not meant to be. Sorry but Facebook don't allow it. Also links won't work as far as I know. (Ill double check tomorrow)

You can look forward to that feature soon with Wall posts and Friends requests though.

Great idea, hope it works well for you.

The following puts me off a bit though...

"all of the posts made to your Facebook Wall will contain YOUR personal unique referral link for everybody to use."

I personally wouldn't use it if that was the case.

I guess that can easily be modified with a tick box at the top of the "post text to wall" button that simply says "include referral link" if left unticked it could just write it all as text

He doesn't mean every post ever made to your wall.

Not sure why you wouldnt want that but there will be an option to not do it if you dont want to.

btw, its your referral link and it isnt in every post. Only posts made from your kudos account. More will be revealed soon.

I thought that sounded like a great feature - u get a free wii, your friends all see this in their updates and if they click on it, it takes them to the kudos site via your link. What's not to like?

Please bare in mind that this is only stage one, and also it's still in beta. I have tested it thoroughly but if anybody spots anything that isnt right or is confusing dont hesitate to PM me the details.

The features that are live to you now (from launch) are as follows: Automatic login to your kudosNetwork accounts when you are logged into Facebook. This means that if you are logged into Facebook you don't have to login to your kudos accounts seperately. I took the decision to run each site independantly, which means that you have to seperately connect each of your kudos accounts with Facebook. For new users: Register using Facebook credentials. Being linked with Facebook means that your referrals are more likely to register, which means more greens for you at the end of the day. Update your Facebook status from your kudosNetwork account to tell all your friends what you are up to. We have pre-written status updates which you can post to your Facebook Wall at the click of a button. Alternatively just write your own. So, that's what is live NOW. Read on below to see what EXCITING features are coming soon. They just keep getting better and better and better! What's live soon? The features that are coming soon are as follows: Find out which of your friends are already connected to your favourite kudos sites. With this feature you can search or simply view which of your friends are already connected to Facebook via that particular kudos site. This will help with targetting friends and family as referrals. Find out which of your friends are NOT connected to your kudos sites. Similar to the previous feature but this allows you to seach and view which of your friends are NOT connected to your kudos sites. Again, very useful for targetting referrals. Have an automatic post made to your Facebook wall when you get a green or receive your chosen gift. This is very exciting stuff. If you choose to allow it, you can have an automatic post made to your Facebook Wall on certain preconfigured events. For example, when you get a new green, or even better, when you get your chosen gift, you can have a post sent to your Facebook Wall detailing the event for all your friends to see. ....and the best thing is... ...all of the posts made to your Facebook Wall will contain YOUR personal unique referral link for everybody to use. This will ensure that everybody you know on Facebook is aware that you have just got your FREE PS3 (for example), and it will give them the opportunity to take part in this great scheme. What better way to advertise your link than actually proof to people you know? So, what do you think of that then? I think it will help you get the referrals you need and is another string to the bow of getting freebies. In coming editions of kudosNews I will touch on these new, fantastic features and hopefully give you dates of when to expect them. I'll now explain how to make this happen for you...read on. How to connect your accounts... Connecting your Facebook account with your kudosNetwork account(s) is so easy it's hardly worth typing instructions. But I will anyway There are a few different places to connect. Basically, you can connect where ever you see Facebook Connect buttons, like these: Simply click the button and the system will do the rest. If it is the first time you have connected with Facebook, then you will be required to confirm that you wish to do so. Once this has been done, you won't have to do it again (unless you disconnect your accounts - more on this soon). Once this has been done, whenever you want to connect to Facebook, or login to your kudos site, simply hit the Facebook Connect button. Simple eh? Note: The Facebook Connect button in the register box on the front page is for new members only. It isn't the end of the world if you connect using that (the system will help out when you log in), but once connected it will redirect you to the register page. If you already have an account you do not want to create another one as this is against the T&C's of the site. That's about it. I have pretty much covered everything that is planned at the moment. What I haven't already mentioned is that this is only really the beginning, and more cool new features will be added soon. If you wish to configure or disconnect your Facebook connection with your kudos site then goto the My Account page in the members area. At the bottom there are options for disconnecting. Soon there will be more options relating to the features outlined above. You can also disconnect by going to the Application Settings page on your Facebook account.
