The main reason for email verification is to confirm he validity of the email address for the purposes of sending the newsletter.

If an individual sends too many falsely addressed emails to any one domain (eg. hotmail.com), they run the risk of being blacklisted. This is obviously a bad thing so I have decided to only send newsletters to people that have confirmed that their address is valid and current.

The reason for it being optional is so it doesn't have any adverse effect on ratios at all. It gives the user the option of verifying should they wish to.

Ok.

The reason neither of you have received your newsletters, and this goes for others aswell, is because you have a 'disposible' email address.

By that I mean either gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc.

You will get it, but I have written the newsletter code to throttle back the sending of emails to these doamins to only 1 every 10 secs.

Considering there are in the region of 30,000 hotmail email address this will take a good few days to get through them.

It is necessary however, as hotmail do not like being bombarded with emails and their mail servers get very upset apparently if this happens.

You dont want me to get blacklisted as a spammer do you

EDIT: You also, obviously, wont get the email if you opted out of the list in the members area. However as this is a network wide newsletter you would have had to opt out on every site for this to have an effect.

I got 2 copies of the Newsletter, becasue on one site i am *****@gmail.com and on another i am *****@googlemail.com

i'm assuming that i can only use one of the two codes (wouldnt dream of presuming otherwise) but thought i would flag it as a potential 'gap' for muppets like me who use more than one variant of their email addy!
