IP Question (Kudos admin please help!)

Hi there, i've asked this question in a support ticket too but seeing as this issue affects my competition entry which has a deadline i didn't want to risk waiting a couple of days for a reply that may not give me the answer i need!

Firstly I know all about the standard IP problems, i.e. signing up from the same IP address, or home address = 'on hold', and this isn't that problem (yet!), i just need to hear from kudos themselves that my issue won't be a problem because i don't think it should be.

Basically I signed up to gifts.kudos using my own home address and card details to match (as you normally would) - BUT - i did so FROM my friend's house,
i.e HIS IP ADDRESS

I now need him to sign up as my referral but i'm assuming if he also does so from HIS IP ADDRESS, it'll cause a clash and we'll both go on hold, which i don't want.

Now his home address and card details to match it are completely different to mine (as normal), so i'm assuming if he signed up FROM my house,
i.e MY IP ADDRESS then it should be fine as none of the details from either account clash with each other.

However when i asked kudos in a support ticket to confirm the IP address 'REGISTERED' with my account so i could just double check that i did sign up from my friend's house, i got back a reply simply listing all the IP addresses that have ever been 'USED' on my account - including my home address which i have been checking my account on.

Now i doubt that looking at your account causes IP clashes because then surely anyone just checking their account in a net cafe or public library would risk going on hold! However i thought i'd double check on here because i'm unfamiliar with kudos and it might be some weird rule they have that the others don't.

I've included a diagram to explain too, if any of the above confuses you at all.

(I want to make certain that there'll be no problems rather than try anyway because my signup was part of a trade with Prettyfly, and i really don't want to lose anyone else a green!)

Thanks a lot for reading all this and hopefully i'll be able to enter the competition as soon as it's all sorted out!

Matt

Re: IP Question (Kudos admin please help!)

Wow. Thats a lot of words! lol

You're right about the fact that if you got your mate to sign up from his house this would cause an IP conflict.

Neither of you would go on hold but your accounts would be disconnected. This is standard protocol for IP conflicts.

IP addresses register against your account every time you sign in. If it is a new one then it will register itself in the database. That list I gave you is the list of all IP addresses you have used, including I assume your home address and your mate's home address.

Now, if your mate registers from either his home or your home this is going to cause an IP conflict and your accounts will be disconnected.

What I will suggest is just get him to sign up at his own home and I will let this one pass. Im only doing this because you quite clearly arent trying to scam anyone.

Submit a ticket after he has signed up to remind me of this thread and I will make a note on his and your accounts.

When it comes to verification, if you get that far, best to remind me again. If I remove him, tell me and Ill put him back. I expect I'll remember but if its 6 months down the line then I may not do

Hope that answers your question mate

Thanks Lee!

That's a big help, cheers.

Just another question now though, will he have to do a different offer to the one i did? Will the advertiser also detect the same IP addresses on the same offer and cause their own conflict? I did Victor Chandler by the way.

And also is Prettyfly's green that he got from me also definately safe?

Cheers!

I would suggest doing a different offer.

I cant guarantee that Prettyfly's green is safe as I haven't look at your account but this issue will not effect it.
