kudosnetwork is making some changes....

New Server:

The whole of kudosnetwork is going to be migrating across to a new server in Manchester. The old server was based in California and wasn’t very fast. You should notice a big difference in page load times. This is also the platform required for the international expansion programme. More on that soon

The server move is scheduled for tomorrow evening. Ive planned it so there is as little downtime as possible. Totally avoiding downtime is not realistic but Ill do my best to keep it to a minimum.

After the move you will notice the difference in speed, and there will be a few more changes to announce also.


One of them is:-

Main site changing name

The original kudosnetwork site is going to be renamed to ‘consoles.kudosnetwork.co.uk’. This will happen over a period of time to give everybody a chance to alter their links. Existing links will work and users will be automatically be redirected to the new site name, with your referral links intact. The date at the moment when the old links (eg. http://kudosnetwork.co.uk?ref=1) will change is the end of September 2008. That same link will then only work by using the ‘consoles.kudosnetwork’ address (eg. http://consoles.kudosnetwork.co.uk?ref=1).

Just a quick update here. The move didnt go as planned as I ran into some problems.

Basically it didnt happen.

However I am now ready and it will be happening over the course of the weekend.

If you notice one of the sites are down, this will be temporary and should be down for no longer than 20-30 mins.

A message will be displayed for new visitors (ie. your referrals) advising them that we are upgrading the site and to check back in 30 mins. Hopefully this will mean you wont lose any referrals whilst the sites are down for the short amount of time.

The gifts site isn't working/has been really slow for hours. Will it be like this all weekend? Can it not be delayed till monday lol... I get most of my referrals at the weekend!

I havent touched the Gifts site yet

This is why I need to get these sites moved.

The old server is getting slower and less reliable by the day.

I am keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.

It's a pain but itll be worth it for everyone once it's done!!

Just to let you all know that I have now moved all of the sites across to the new server.

The changes have started to take effect already but won't be fully effective until Tuesday at the latest.

You will notice some differences to the site, especially to the new support page and the NEW dynamic quotation system.

When I get home this evening I will post about those 2 new features and Ill give you some more information on the international expansion programme.

Until then bare with the sites as they will be a bit hit and miss today.

Im considering extending the comp aswell till next Saturday as compensation for the downtime.

More on that later folks.

Lee are still having problems with the sites? I am having loads of problems getting in to my MainKudos site my links of my site dont work and I can`t get on to Kudos to change them . Any advice

Thanks arcticfox , I just can not get on the kudso site (any of them) none of my web links is working it just says Connection Interrupted The document contains no data . I need to get this sorted ASAP because I don`t want what little people I get on my site not even having the chance to sign up .

Right. Just to outline a few of the changes that a lot of you have mentioned:


Support page:

The support page has had a major overhaul with tickets now appearing instantly with a much more user friendly feel to them.

Links appear as clickable URLs making support tickets easier to read.

The Untracked Form has also had an overhaul making it clearer what the requirements are for claiming untracked credits.


Dynamic Quotation System:

There is also now a Custom order page (found on the support page). This makes it EASY to ask for custom orders, whether they be bank transfers, Amazon vouchers or items from your favourite website. Simply use the form to request ‘instant’ dynamic quotations for any custom order, and it will quote you how many referrals are required. Just have a play – it’s easy!! When you are happy, simply submit the request and I will approve or amend as appropriate via the specially created support ticket.


Referral List:

It is now possible to bring up extra information for each of your referrals. Simply click on the small green ‘plus’ icon to the left of the referral’s email address and the details will appear.
It will show you where the User is located in the world (UK/US/CA), when they joined, what offers they have completed and the type / status, the gift they are going for and whether they have started referring or not. Hopefully this will give you a bit more insight into what your referrals are doing, especially ones from out of the UK!!


Ordering

When choosing an item which has colour choices etc, you will now have the option of picking this when ordering, thereby saving the need to submit a support ticket. In the event of your chosen colour being out of stock, we will then contact you for an alternative.


Redesign

There has been a subtle redesign of kudosnetwork, making it a little bit crisper and modern. A lot of thought was given into completely changing the design but I decided against it as the design seems to be liked and it works! You know what they say, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!! So I didn’t!!

Are you still working on the design cause I've noticed a small issue with it. There are lines like the ones around the navigation just below the header and the images for the other sites aren't showing.

Thanks for this feature ... it's awesome! Really handy to know what people have signed up for so that when I email the yellows I can be more specific.

This will happen because you still have the old images caches in your temp folder.

Hit CTRL+F5 to force a full refresh of the page.

If that doesnt fix it let me know which site and maybe send me a screenie aswell.

heh stupid keyboard. I did Ctrl + F5 and it didn't work but I thought I'd try it again just in case, and obviously it worked this time. Looks like my slightly dodgy Ctrl key strikes again
