Some Free Useful SEO tools

Just found these on another forum and found them really useful, so:

The first one doesn't seem to like my iWeb website, saying it has no title tags, meta keywords, h1 or h2 tags...

Either that report has a glitch, or because my website is iWeb, it can't read it properly (searching it in Google shows it does have Meta tags)

EDIT: Second one seems better, I think the problem with the first one was that I just wrote http://www.freebieshack.co.uk/ which takes you to /home.html, which I guess the first report didn't work out

So that's the drawback of iWeb - you can create a great looking site, but it's hard to SEO it?

Good tools thanks but in my case just tells me I don't have a site map and I don't "compress" my html!!

And I got a website grade of 60 from the 2nd tool.... is that good??!

It's based purely about on-site SEO, I got a score of 59. For a laugh I did simplyfreeiphone.co.uk. Furbs will be happy with a score of 92!!

iWeb is useless for SEO, but I use a program called "iWeb SEO Tool" which allows you to add Title Tags, Meta Tags etc. which would otherwise be impossible.

My site is relatively good for SEO (I believe) but apparently, these tools can't work it out

- probs not though, otherwise wouldn't have a problem with meta tags etc.

Nope it's like the sort of website builder you get with Webs or Weebly, but with more freedom. The program "iWeb SEO Tool" edits the HTML for you though so you just type in the meta tags, title tags etc. that you want, and it does it for you

Lol I got 37 even though I apparently had no title tags, meta tags, h1 or h2 tags, keywords etc.

SEO really isn't rocket science! Stick to basic good practice, don't spam the search engines and don't target unachievable keywords when you are starting out.

I was lucky enough to be at a conference recently where a team from Google gave great SEO advice showing delegates how to tell the Google robots what their sites are about and therefore rank higher in the serps.

Even better they've put it all into a guide here: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Webmasters/Site owners Help

For some people it may seem obvious info, but if your not already doing this basic stuff then don't expect your site to rank!
