See the real GBP to USD exchange rate

I made this in April because I went to Florida in June. I was trying to see how the exchange rate had changed recently, but all I could find was the market rate and you'll never get that much in a shop.
So I made this. Every 6 hours it gets the rate that you can buy from travelex.co.uk (which is the best around as far as I know). This is then plotted on a graph, so you can save yourself a few pounds (more like pence probably) by buying at the right time.

Could be a handy tool for somebody that potentially needs it, but if you check the data, you'll see that they only update the figure once a day sometime between 6am and midday, so I presume at the start of business. Surely you only need one data collection per day?

If you really want to get the best rate, then you can order your money (if you can afford to) way in advance from a site like Best Foreign Currency Exchange Rates On Travel Money: Compare Today they will give you future rates based on there predictions, can be a bit of a gamble but I've used it twice and got great deals, also they sometimes have currency left over to sell at good rates from people who have decided not to take it and then you don't have to wait.

it would be good to have a more detailed Y axis ??? maybe markers at every cent with a bit one and number at the 10c intervals ?? ANNNNND if you could do it when you rested your curser over a specific point in the graph then you'd get a floating X axis hitting the green line and corresponding Y Axis

just thoughts tho

It gets the rate every 6 hours, so twice during the working day.

Yeah I know the graph is a bit cruddy. I'd like to add some things like that to make it easier to read but I'm not that good with flash.

Me too man, although I'm hoping the rate stays low for the next few weeks as I'm waiting for a cheque in dollars to clear.
