i am wanting to create a website, but im a bit of a newbie at things like this. can anyone recommend me a free website hosting site or one where i can create one for free with no obligations

freewebs is a good place to start if you don't know html

you should eventually learn html though, learn here W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

then use nvu to create the site, get that free here Nvu - The Complete Web Authoring System for Linux, Macintosh and Windows

Id definately reccomend NVU if you dont now anything about HTML...its really easy. I used it to create my site.

In the past 20 days Ive had 358 hits, which is about an average of 17 hits a day.

I cant estimate the exact number of yellos/greens. I think Ive had about 2 greens in the past 20 odd days, and many yellows - probably 20+.

so would you say that creating a website is worth it? how have you been advertising it? or is that secret lol

yes definately I think its worth it. People are more likely to sign up/go green the more information they have. Its better to promote your website than your referral link.
Ive been submiting my site to directories, search engines, and in forum signatures.

have you tried freewebs? it's pretty much what you're looking for...

Right Click, save as on a website you like (NOT MINE ) and then open it up in Nvu. You can then see the HTML behind it. That is the best way to learn HTML and see how other have used things like tables etc to get their layout.

BUT do not COPY content - just use this method as an inspiration or tutorial and do not copy people's websites with it.

Or like Praj says Freewebs has lots of templates.

I tried to sign up on hostign cow and it keeps saying this but i cant see whats wrong with my norton or internet explorer...
