Just wondering of any of you would be willing to sign the petition at:

iShop4One.co.uk is an online petition that we would like you to sign, to encourage the big supermarkets that penalize single people shopping for themselves, or the elderly with smaller appetites, with BOGOF (buy one get one free) offers, as well as buy 3 get one free.

huh - never heard of them or their supporters.. and seems they've only got 5 sign ups so far, i'm guessing its not that big else surely it would have better advertising.. think i'll give it a miss thanks..

Link doesn't work for me. Plus i don't get what you are saying, BOGOF's are bad? How? Even if you are just one person save the extra by freezing or whatever.

BOGOF's are good! If you really think it is unfair find a mate and get them to go halfs on th BOGOF's and get one each, rather than setting up a petition. There are ways of getting around it if you use your imagination.

as for bogof's for some they maybe good, but most of the time all the food just ends up with the rest of the rubbish in the trash heap

huh what world do you leave in ? i don't know anyone that goes shopping, gets bogof on an item and then throws the free one away.. i'm 25 and never in my life time has anyone in my family done this and i know none of my friends have ever done.. sounds stupid to me and would love to see you back it up with something solid

come to my flat n have a look at where i can place fresh meat etc that i can store, and eat safely b4 it goes off!
How about older ppl, my grandparents eat half of what i eat, they dont need all the offers

Ok so by not wanting to waste the excess (thus reducing waste, co2 etc), you get penalized.
I dont want 20 oranges for £2.00, I want 10 for £1.00, (not £1.79)

So you want big supermarkets to stop promoting products through BOGOFs but you dont want to have to pay the same price for one item when you can get 2 of that item for that same price.

Even if you're petition has some effect. They aren't going to lower any prices. Just means big families and hungry people will lose out.

I've been single and I've also been "attached" and believe me BOGOFs are fantastic. Most food these days can be frozen. Infact, a lot of the BOGOFs are frozen foods anyway.

If you can afford to shop in big supermarkets then count yourself lucky, for many people BOGOFs are an essential part of a weekly shop, and I know what I'm talking about.

It's called choice. If you dont want to "waste" money buying BOGOFs, then dont. Supermarkets have plenty of choice. As for "fresh meat" and veg, buy them from a butcher or grocer, I think that's a far greater need.

What you should actively be promoting is the encouragement to use local traders, where you can buy the quantity you want

Support your local greengrocer/butcher/bakers where you can buy 1 potato, or 1 pork chop.half a loaf of bread.

I have a large family, bogofs dont appeal to me, I am not that way inclined... I will quite happily buy one and not worry about the second one.
