Like the hundreds of sites I promise to write, then get bored of, here's my idea.

I am writing a site that will allow anyone to join a random conga queue, removing the idea of the pyramid influencing you and your 'friends'.

I wish to endorse this system through exceem and if trevor/miles wishes, we can joint-admin it. Ideally it will generate hosting fees through advertising on the site, but the portal could be through exceems very site : D

I would say I am 10% through programming it.

Basically it is a conga line.

You go in, sign up for an account.

You are then given a listings of all sites that "my" site will contain. You select an item to conga on (eg ipod). You are presented with a URL with another members id in.

You join up with that id (it does not present you with another or let you join the conga line twice)

Once you have signed up, you return to the site and enter your referal number. That activates your account. Once the activation is complete, it appears upon the user who referred you, with your status as grey.

When you do an offer, when it is listed under the sponsors site, you change the status from 'grey' to 'yellow'. This is displayed on the person who referred you. When the offer clears, you change the status from 'yellow' to 'green'. When the person who refers you sees this, he can check that this is the case (he is given your referal id to check). If he concurs that the offer has been completed, he can then take it to its final stage, 'red'. When an item goes red, you get 2 points, the user gets 1 point.

If there has been a 'mistake' or a pair of people somehow conspire to cheat and get more points, they will obviously find it difficult to complete within the system. They are only cheating themselves. If they wish to un-cheat and turn a red back to grey, both parties loose points. This will hopefully increase the number of people checking their accounts and reporting accurately.

Obviously with a random conga line, you could not restrict people to a fixed number of people completing - it would be time & number limited. I think that no referrer should get more than say 50-60 people. If they do not all sign up, then they would have to post their links around their friends.

I intend to expand the points system to allow high point scoring people only to associate or complete offers with similar high point people (so you have less time to wait).

This is a hideously complex project for me (lots of thinking involved) because it requires a massive amount of linkage etc.

My php is somewhat oldskool - so anyone who wants to help is mad.

Well, progress update:

Login is working fine, as is the user referral management system (part 1)

Took me three hours to write and an hour to debug. That's aproximately 900 errors to each line of code, and that's not quite as many as the 7023 tropical man eating spiders we consume each night

huzzah, who knows - I may even get as far as doing all the critical functions by tonight! I've done all the referral administration stuff now.

You can login & see your control panel. You can see all the offers you have applied for and all your referees. You can change the status from the grey/yellow/green etc.

Well, if you're feeling interested, let me know! Meanwhile, allow for areas of advertising - since it's for free, it'd be nice to get google ads & amazon referrals on it :- )

I won't bore you with the details, but the signup form wasn't working. It is now. Just finished the item signup form after 8hrs of cursing it.
