£263.20 Amazon Voucher... From Amazon!

A big thank you to Amazon for this one! I've not really done much affiliate promotion generally, but I took my chance with Amazon during their Black Friday week last year.

Their deals may have been rubbish that week, but somebody must have been buying the stuff as I think I sold (via my link anyway) about £4k worth of stuff for Amazon (and all I got was this lousy t-shirt

) - I joke... I got a whopping £263.20 Amazon Voucher!

Plus I have another £7ish on its way next month as it rolled over into December, just.

This was mainly from sticking my affiliate link everywhere across facebook, twitter, email etc, as well as getting family and friends to buy Christmas presents through quickfreeiphone.com/amazon

(not sure what to buy yet!)

Yea I was getting a commission of 6-7% I think it was. Although even if the item was £00s+ you'd get a commission limit of £7! Bit rubbish (sold a few watches, Xbox deals and Hornby train sets that would have earned a lot more than £7!)

Voucher already added, don't worry about that!

The max you can get is 6.5 %. You start at 5% then it increases as you sell over a certain number of items within a month. Yeah the cap of £7 is so annoying, having sold a few laptops at £500+ it becomes frustrating, and the referral has to buy within 24 hours for you to get commission.

I wouldn't bother, there are much higherpayouts out there. I mean I got lucky that I was set up for the Black Friday week with thousands of people ready to just buy anything because it's cheaper! Most of the time though it's probably not worth it! (Unless you get it really popular and get thousands of purchases!)

The advantage I would say about amazon affiliate, they are such a well known brand people are more than happy to shop with them, the other thing is that they sell so much and you get commission on anything sold within 24 hours, so although I send customers there to buy netbooks, I've made commission on the strangest of things like perfume and cook books.

I think I'm in agreement with Matt on this one, I think simply the brand name carries enough weight to make it worthwhile, especially when starting out. My plan is to try and merge a bit of affiliate marketing with referral marketing, can anyone vouch for/advise against this?
