Thats what my mate did within 24 hours of getting his iphone. Apparently you have to roll back the firmware and then unlock it.. all a bit risky to do on a device so expensive.

well when connected to iTunes it gives you a Activation page, then say's do you want to make a new account, something else and are you a Existing customer, if so please enter number, but i stopped at that bit, was scared it might register it and tell o2 i have it so if i do unock it they can tell ?? not sure, still reading about at mo, found out it's version 1.1.2.23
