I personally hate to walk up to people and talk about it (because its makes me look like a cheap motherf***er

so i make business cards with all the needed info on it and then drop it all the apartment buildings i can find in my area. You can also hand them out in a busy shopping area or something like that. Personally I think most of the people have been confronted with freebies too much on the internet and react repulsive if they see a link like that, but where I live (Belgium Europe) most of the people on the street have never heard of it. Hope this helps you a bit

I would recommened read forums where these ideas are given ( the legal way ) and try to find people who are not new to freebie scene I did that earn a lots of free things

The drop card system works out well. Business cards with a shortened url link to your website dropped in a high traffic area has been used for years. Also cork boards in laundry mats and apartment buildings are other good places.

If you need referrals just follow these 3 golden steps -

1. Make a website ( not blog )

2. Make it look nice

3.Get it ranked in google which will lead to traffic

And these Traffic will lead to referrals
And these referrals will lead to your free Iphone4s
