I have a website Free ipod touch | Free ipod shuffle | free ipod nano | free ipod | www.freeipod4u.com and it doesn`t rank well, is this anything to do with homestead it was the offer i did for FJ, and i just kept it on. Where does everyone else host from. Can people give there opinions of my site, and any useful ideas.

It doesnt matter who hosts your website. you can even host your own website. It depends on what you're doing to get it ranked.

I tried lots a while ago, but didn`t have much luck and haven`t been near it in a while. I just thought some one may have a bright idea that would stop me giving up. I have had some freebies but this has been through friends and facebook not really through my site. Most of my sites traffic is from USA and they don`t bother with FJ as it`s a UK site. I don`t know if this is because i host from the USA, and have a .com URL.

It'll be because you need the back links. Try and get some .co.uk back links, but in the end just trying getting any back links!

(can you tell ranking is mostly about back links?!!)

Thanks MJ10, how many back links do you need and where is the best place to get them? I have posted it all over facebook, twitter both of which are .com so i will try and get alot of co.uk links as you suggested. What about the page tittle, description, meta tags and keywords? Does this have a massive affect or is it just mainly backlinks that help SEO?

First of all, I recommend you to re-design your website because it is a little bit ugly.

A few mounths ago, my website was like yours too, but I was practicing a lot since then, and I think it is good now

It has not a professional design but I think it is going to get sucessfull in the next days when I buy a new domain.

About your keywords and that, I recommend you to use Google Adwords Keywords tool, and use the keywords that have less competition...

I'm not going to say anything else or you can get your website better ranked than mine lol

I guess you are targeting the keyword "free ipod"

well here is an analysis of the top 10 in google.com for that keyword. the main thing to be looking at is the BLP (back links to page) and the BLD (back links to domain)

you need to get 10,000s of backlinks to get to number 1 or just a lot of high quality backlinks.

most websites get their backlinks from blog commenting, forum posting, forum profiles, web 2.0, articles, social bookmarking (digg etc). their are tools that help automate the process. I suggest you go to fiverr.com and look at the SEO gigs there.

Don't go to blogs just to paste your websites url domain... you will make spam, and if the webmaster set the comments section with "no-index", no backlinks will be made.

Talking about SEO djm1278, if you wanna know anymore about this, read some articles about "robots.txt"

do go to blogs and comment on them, but make your comment about the blog post. do put your website in the box that asks for it, if the webmaster doesn't want websites linked he would remove that box. I have never heard of anything called "no-index". it is "no-follow" and "do-follow". it doesn't matter which one it is, "do-follow" passes more link juice than "no-follow". but also post on "no-follow" to make the backlinking look more natural.

I suggest you buy "above the fold" a great book, also look at SEO tutorials. read, read, read and soon you will understand it all.
