No good at getting referrals

Hi guys,

I have been a memeber for a few days now and am starting to get more technical when it comes to getting referrals, for example I have created one general technology website and am currently building a free tech dedicated site. Are there any more tips on geting referrals beside learning the hard way??? Both my parents and most of my friends dont want to sign up, I would use the congas but I am a member of all the sites now and most of the congas havn't been updated in months/years :O

Many people, including myself, have searched tirelessly for a magic way to get referrals. And in one or two cases, some people have been lucky.

However, if you want to be successful and get referrals consistently, it's best to learn the hard way. Do plenty of research (trust me, the time will pay back tenfold) as to what constitutes a successful site, gain some knowledge of HTML and the process of making an attractive site, and then promote the f**k out of it. SEO is king. Sure, there might be other ways of getting traffic to you site, but search engines bring targeted visitors who want free gadgets. Every successful freebie hunters (making thousands a year) have sites at the top of Google for their specific keywords.

I spent at least a year and a half wasting my time on methods that ultimately aren't durable or successful. Just work hard with the above information, and you'll do great.

If you want more people to come to your site, you need to get more original content. Search engines love original content. Honestly, I think it's the best SEO there is.

Occasionally there is a conga purge, when members who have not been online for 2 months are removed from the lists (that can often include first places)

Might be time for a new purge!

i think taking their advice is the best thing. also some users here use new product launches to buy domain names and promote that new website. however if you are new to HTML there is not point in having the domain with a crappy site.

Amy, furbs and loads of others here have managed to get very far by SEO.

i cant give advice because ive been doing it for a year and my site has fallen. i know i need to put time into it however i get sidetracked by education and work.

either way, keep it up.

im also desperatly looking for ways to get greens, i have a blog but i dont really know how to make it noticeable, i promoted it on youtube and i have like 30 views but nobody comments or helps me getting greens. I also signed up for other ipad forums and asked if they wanted to help me but i wasn´t allowed to promote my blog and fj link. help please
