![]() | Ever been in sales?I used to sell insurance so I consider myself as good with face to face interactions. Obviously a great way to get greens is to create a blog etc etc. I've tried the Omegle method, came up with a red after 3 hours and a few other random methods but the most success I've come up with is in person. If anyone's ever taken a rhetoric course or a class in public speaking they talk about ethos, pathos and logos. Ethos refers to credibility that you've established with the audience, on the internet, you have none. In person, if someone knows you, that credibility goes up 100%. They understand that you're not some anonymous person who they may feel is trying to scam them and that gives you an edge. As long as you have the stones to go up to people at your job/social acitivities/etc and don't have a fear of rejection, this should work pretty well, it deifinitely has for me. |

If you target people that you know, work with etc. then people are always going to be mithering you, asking how to get more referrals and god help you if one of your friends goes on hold for being a little bit cheeky with their methods. That's you social standing blown apart in an instant. Not for me thanks, not one single friend, family or work colleague has ever been asked, and they never will for this exact reason. Will probably work for some people though, i'm not trying to talk people out of it in any way. Just not for me.

Then they will come up with the genius plan of creating a new gmail account thinking that 'just this once' no-one will notice and bang! Account on hold. Cue the angry confrontations about how you tricked them and somehow you owe them an explanation and an iPod. Not for me thanks

![]() | Haha, good point Cruel. Luckily I haven't had that experience yet, I'd say around 60 percent of my referrals are from work and I don't have a problem yet. A lot of them have complained to me how hard getting referrals actually is or some that just give up but beyond minor annoyances like that it's been smooth sailing. But like you said, to each his own, I'm terrible at convincing people over the internet to do it. |

![]() | Yeah, I tried the whole, in person, deal. Here's what it got me... nothing. I'd tell people about the site and how all they had to do was 1 offer and that's it. On the one hand, at least they weren't shouting, SCAM at me in capital letters. But then they just wouldn't sign up. After a while I got tired of reminding them. They just flat out weren't interested, not even as a favor for me. :\ |

![]() | mmmm, seems like you're more likely to loose friends that way... But yeah, I don't like hounding people, if they don't wanna then they don't wanna... :\ Last edited by I Like Free; 04-08-11 at 03:28 AM.. |
