So heres my new idea! Been thinking of more ways to get peoples attention. Business cards, Fliers, and Leaflets dont seem to stand out. Everyone loves freebies, so what better way to get there attention then giving them your wallet?!

I was waiting in line for lunch today and pulled out my brand new wallet. Instantly the guy behind me asked me about it.

probably because its made out of paper.

Then later i got the idea. Ill make lots of paper (or strong cards stock) wallets, with site info and the FAQ stuff printed on it. Then ill print out obviously fake $5 bill's with a phrase about being the max amount you will have to pay.

Im packing (you can see my old leather wallet in the back btw.)

Then add some of those fake credit cards that say "your name here" on them. I used to keep each one that came in. I've got a box of at least 20 of them somewhere. If i find them i guess i could write something like "only use this once, and your done".

These are the instructions i used, but after doing a little research i found this on lifehacker that you can use if you dont have photoshop. The problem is that the 2'nt link is for a different folding method, and it doesn't look like it has a card slot. But is shouldn't mater to much. I dont think it should take to long make one. Im guessing once you get the pattern down it might take about 30-60 secs each. not counting the bill and the credit card, although if you have those on hand it shouldn't take much longer. Im sure some will end up in the trash, but hopefully not as many as a business card. Hope it works!

While i'm waiting for imageshack to finish uploading my pics, just letting you know that tomorrow i'm either going to be flying out to oregon for two weeks
to work, or driving to la at 5 in the morning and not get home till real late. So if you dont see me online for a week or so, thats why. Im sure no one will notice/cares, but just letting you know. Not sure if ill have internet in oregon as ill be in the woods, and if la then ill just be tired, pics done.

At least wait till tomorrow before you start celebrating..

Yeah even if it passed it would have been to show that it won't work, and be illegal again anyway and the politicians will be like "I told you so".

Why wouldn't it work? Amsterdam manages it well.

OT: Seems like a nice idea but is a lot of effort for a potential green.

Thats a really neat idea... its eye-catching (like the leaflet that looks like an iphone) and you can store alot more info in it. Not only that, the person can also use it as a wallet afterwards.

Amsterdam isn't legal, just decriminalized. They're only allowed to sell it in the shops, they're not allowed to grow, transport it etc etc. It's basically ran by gangs. California wouldn't be, but funny how the gang option would be better! It's a plant, it shouldn't be controlled.

Sorry for going off topic by the way! It's my speciality.

POLITICS!!

I didn't do much research into it. I voted no, supposedly it would have lowered taxes or something, but i drive the freeways a lot and its all ready bad enough as it is. I've never used the stuff so it doesn't effect me anyways. Im not to big into politics..

Anyways, replying to maxx. With things like this it takes me while before i get it down, but usually after the first batch or so i can do it without looking. If i'm watching a video or reading or something i just fold something up, and the more you do the faster you get. This one will probably take extra time because of the cutting, but i might get it down to where i do it without thinking.

Replying to thomas,

Thats what i tried to keep in mind while thinking of new marketing ideas. This time i wasn't even trying to think of new ideas, just came to me after i noticed the attention it was getting. I think the practicality keeps it from getting thrown away automatically. Why throw away a perfectly good paper wallet? Its also interactive, You have to pull out the fake money and the credit card to read them, plus maybe ill even have some puzzles or something in there.

The goal is to come up with something that stands out from the crowd, and hopefully this will do that.

Yesterday was without doubt the most difficult day of the short. One scene, we only had one shot to get it right or $9,000 just went down the drain. Then after that shot we had to get about 50 or so extras ready for the next scene. No one was sure if we would have extras all throughout the day until they started showing up, that was a huge relief.

After that we had one last scene to shoot, the actor had to go into make up for an hour and a half.

Before:

After:

I dont know how they did it, but it looked awesome, consisting the make up guy was telling me it usually took 4 hours to do this.

But these things take time, i was working with the grips and elections so i spent most of the time setting up lights. I think its hard to appreciate how much work goes into a film until your actually on set observing the entire process. and the script had been written 4 years ago, they've been preparing for this since then.

This is way faster then stop motion though..
Stop motion is ridiculously slow, but well worth the wait! never worked on one but would love to.
