![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The thing is when people sign up they don't sign up to be contacted via a totally different platform and be pestered about doing an offer. It's been said before people are using the emails for other purposes other than emailing sign ups and if it continues this will be removed. I think you will be hearing shortly that this method should not be used, its hard enough getting refs without having more avenues removed due to it being abused. You may well be very polite and understanding when contacting people but I can guarantee others wont be as caring and will pester people.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To be fair, even with e-mail people probably wouldn't expect to be contacted by anyone other than the networks themselves, certainly not a third-party like us freebie hunters. People can abuse e-mails just as easily as they could MSN or Facebook, the same rules apply to all. Hardly any of us can claim moral high-ground in general terms. Most if not all methods involve spamming, hijacking posts or enticing people with half the story. Approved bidders, cycle and mania are typical examples. Just my two pennies worth, it's the networks who ultimately need to decide what is acceptable.

| Mini Mac | I don't think it's too bad IMO, because if you do it properly, then it will work. Now the emphasis is DO IT PROPERLY. If you do it wrong (bugging them, spamming them) then you are not using the method properly. However if you do it right (mild approach, no forcing or bugging) then it will work, and it won't cause any problems. |

| iPod 60gb | It's a question of consent. It is too intrusive for businesses to add users to Facebook and then talk to them. The (in my opinion) correct way, is to offer to the user an opportunity to become friends on Facebook if they wish, and then create contact and interaction that way. If someone from all the websites and services that I gave my email to added me on Facebook as a friend, I'd be seriously pissed. It'd be like me signing up to T-Mobile (for example), and a sales rep adding me from his personal Facebook page offering to help me find the perfect contract for me so that he can earn his commission. The only reason people can't understand why this is utterly obstrusive is because they are already involved and 'friendly' within this industry. Imagine any industry where you are not as personally involved as you are with freebies, and then imagine a sales rep from that industry adding you from their personal website in order to offer 'help' for you. It would be like them calling you up from their house, after work hours, and having a chat with you - it breaks boundaries! |

![]() | but you put in a friend request so its up to them to accept you or not or ask who you are first |

| iPod 60gb | but the way businesses use facebook is they have set advertising space, and they are clearly labelled as being businesses. to add someone as a friend on facebook from a personal account is something that should only be done on a personal level and is not a strong foundation for business relationships. |
