Quick example of a front I just made.
Grey area would contain different number on each card.

i dont understand how the different numbers will help. if we want referrals, they may think the numbers are relevant when in fact they wont be and end up entering random numbers which will mean nothing to us.

i will still look into it lol. need to find a good amount of time to be bothered to do anything cause hectic uni life.

How about just using the same number on every card... Your referral number!

Eg put just the number on the front of the card "12345". Then on the back say "add this number to this URL: http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/"

That would work!

MJ10, that's a great effort It looks a bit big though so I'll try and make one like the template in that link. Yeah use the iPhone 4 picture that was posted above as you don't get the black bits around the leaflet.

Very well written as well! It's easy to understand and leaves me wanting to find out more.

dang.. i didn't expect this to go so far, i'm loving these ideas.

This morning i passed out my first 30 business cards, got to get rid of those before i move onto the booklets or whatever i decide on doing. Well, i put them under windshield wipers at school, and i've been waiting all day to check my account, and when i finally got the chance, i saw this..

....edited out email addresses, grr

I dont know what i was expecting, obviously i knew not all 30 would join, not even all 10. but i expected at least one person to join by tonight.. guess id better give them a few more days, but they all let me down. I'm very disappointed in them right now..

30 is a really small number. When dealing with handing out or posting flyers/business cards etc your response rate maybe something like: 10% interested. 10% of those sign up. 10% of those complete an offer.

I.e. 1 in 1000.

And personally I feel those figures above are quite optimistic.

Maybe thats a good thing, because it keeps people intrigued, but i want to give them as much info as i can without it being overwhelming. Then earlier today i found this.

you can fit a full page worth of info on it and keep it roughly the same size as a business card. Its more interesting then a folded up sheet of paper, and it would hold my interest longer if i found one.
Cheers for sharing that video, Wes! Just gave it a go myself, and it was surprisingly easy to follow!

Better still, the technique can be adapted to make a 32 page booklet that's the same size by following the video, then sticking a staple in the "spine" of the book and using scissors to cut the joins between some of the pages...Double the ad space for the same amount of paper!
Which should be perfect for people like me who can't write texts under 10K!

You've just shared lots of people's email addresses. No what if they get spammed? I'm sure you wouldn't like it to happen to you. Remember to blur out people's information next time

I tore a few pages out of an old home shopping catalogue to try this out on, and I'm now playing with other ideas along the same vein. So far, this is what I reckon could be had out of one sheet of paper:
  • A8 form factor: One 32-page, two 16-page, or four 8-page A8 booklets,
  • A7 form factor: One 16-page or two 8-page A7 booklets,
  • A6 form factor: One 8-page or two 4-page A6 booklets
  • Etc etc etc...
Considering what other things can be done with simple origami and a printer, there's a near limitless scope for what could be done in the leaflets department!

Thanks very much again, Wes...Ye've just given me another referrals avenue to play around with!

Thankfully, they're at least rendered as images. Though it's not impossible, I don't believe many common spammers are willing to invest in the costly enteprise OEM software that a spam server would need to read them.

That though, I do agree with. If the uploader can change/update the images in question on the host server, they could do it without any changes to the post being needed.
