One effective way to Referrals on CraigsList w/o getting Flagged

What's up guys? It's Mario here! I figured, as an Exceem newbie, I'd start my relationship with you guys by contributing to this community as you already have.

So I'm just gonna drop a quick tip about getting easy greens on Craigslist without being Flagged!

Now I know that so many people think getting referrals on Craigslist isn't a good idea because you risk being flagged, but in reality, you just have to come at it a different way... I'll share with you what I did about a year ago as a freebie newbie..

A good way to get referrals on craigslist that doesn't violate the guidelines is do, what I call, Skill Trading..

In ex: I used to go to the "GIGs" section where people usually offer to pay for minor favors or need an odd job done. I answered an add for a women who needed a complicated logo design but couldn't afford to pay more than $100. So i contacted her and told her that I could give her a much better deal..

I said, "I'll do your design free of charge if you and 3 friends can complete an offer under my link, cause im trying to get a free macbook pro..!" "If you find 8 friends to complete an offer under my link, I'll design your website for free!" Within 2 days, I got 4 referrals (greens) in my freebie account and I designed her a quick logo. As far as the 8 I was really hoping for, she may have given up.

However, what if you did that to 5 people and offered a free service to them if each of them got you 3 referrals or more?

I did this 4 times within 2 weeks. By the time I was done, I was only 2 greens away from my Macbook pro.

Now you don't have to be a graphic designer. There are people on CL offering cash in return for favors or help, whether it be physical labor, creative work, education, or coaching. If someone wants their car fixed, help packing boxes, wants to be coached on dating, or whatever, you can cut them a deal and ask for referrals (Greens) in return for your service... so they don't have to pay. To them, it's always a great deal and for you, you'll be getting that new game console or laptop ASAP.

It's only an Idea... especially if you tolerate traveling to people's houses all the time or can handle doing the work. I personally did stop because doing free designs for some measily referrals wasn't really worth it.. but I helped me get my prize!

PS. You don't have to do this on craigslist. You could even try this out with your friends, peers, colleagues, or your entire network!

Great guide, also great site, some good posts on there! Seems you have studied the freebie scene quite hard, might try this as i see myself to be quite good at graphics.

Nice one mate. Sadly craigslist in the UK is not as popular as in the US.

In the UK CL we dont have much problems with getting flagged, but have to put up with not much traffic.

Can you set me up with a phone verfied account?

Agree with ainslee... Uk cl traffic isn't good compared to US.

Thanks btw, I remember someone gave a similar method with a graphics forum, where people asked for grafix etc. etc.

I'm sure it'll work, CL isn't the only place that where you find people in need of your skills or services...

Harves did tell me that some of the Methods that my be effective in USA may not be the same for UK and other places.. I see he was right now.. I'm definitely gonna keep this in mind here.... I've learned so much in only 3 days since i've been a member here...

Wow, i love this! i just found this last night and i've already got 3 reffs from one easy photoshop. All they wanted me to do was add a posterize filter to a photo and were offering $100, easiest job i've ever done. Thanks very much for the tip!

also, depending on the job, location doesn't seem to matter much. i live in california and i've started working on something for someone in new york. so as long as you never have to meet the person, you can use this from practically anywhere, uk to us. Out of all the states and cities i've looked through so far, los angeles craigslist seems to be the most active under computer and creative gigs, followed by new york. So check those out if your area doesn't have much going on.

Hopefully i can get my iPad in no time now, thanks Mario!

i dont think you have to set anything up, just go to the left hand bar and click worldwide, americas, and united states. then pick a state and city. Then once you've found one you want to try just copy the email address at the top of the ad and send them an email. I dont have an account for craigslist, but i've used it every time i've bought a car.
