business cards/posters

Hey all, has anyone got business cards printed and handed them out or put them through peoples letterboxes? is it worth the time? i have a website, and im just trying to get used to the whole SEO thing and google webmaster tools etc.
Anyone had any luck after handing out business cards?

People tend to have very little respect. I put a poster up with tear-off tabs (Eonbars/iMooses idea) and it got torn down over night. Give it a go and see how it goes.

The thing is with putting thing through peoples letter box, this website and type of referrals based system it's not for every1 so a lot of your flyers will go in the bin, you need to hit your target audience (not sure how to do that tho) lol

in australian cities it is very common to have posters with tabs to tear off. in london they arent as common, only in central but still not that much.

i would try to hand out cards or flyers.

i am just waiting on 500 free business cards from vistaprint then im going to hit the game shops apple store in town hay its worth a try ill let you now how i get on once i hit the town

slightly different take on this method at this time of year would be to get some christmas cards printed up with your referral link on the inside you might get a slightly better strike rate then if you start putting these through peoples mailboxes best to target the modern blocks of flats where younger people live and would be more likely to visit your website, also the mailboxes are usually clustered so easy to do a big drop.

Hmm... potentially a good idea!

The only problem is the time and effort involved... plus it only hits a small market (i.e. however many you can send!)

Certainly deserves some though though thanks!

Just put a business card in all the christmas cards you hand out. We usually hand cards out to every house on our street but if i was to put a business card in them i'd do the surrounding streets too!
