![]() | Where do you all put business cards? The title pretty much explains it, I just ordered 1500 business cards and I was wondering where you all put them? If I go into Tesco and put some into every games/tech magazine, could I get into trouble for it? I'm only 14 so I don't think they'd do anything too bad. So anyway, what are ALL the places you put down business cards? I might wake up at like 04:00 so I'm less likely to get noticed. Also, is putting them through letter boxes okay? Or could that get me into trouble as well? Discuss. |

| Mini Mac | Here's a good thread about where to put leaflets, basically the same thing. http://www.exceem.co.uk/forums/how-g...1-leaflet.html |

![]() | So is it legal to... 1) Post hundreds through peoples' letter boxes (one in each)? 2) Go into a shop like Tesco and put them in magazines? 3) Leave them lying around in areas where lots of people go? |

| Super Moderator | Just so long as it's not "litter" and you don't get caught or break the law

![]() | What about numbers 1), 2) and 3), are they each legal/illegal? |

| Super Moderator | 1) yes... although limited results 2) be very careful with this. you may be better off going to smaller shops and asking if you can leave some on counters... but if you can get away with a few in related magazines... 3) yes... just don't litter... you card linking to your website can be very easily traced back to you... as you well know from earlier!

| Mini Mac | Good thing to do is take them to a local paper shop and pay them maybe a fiver and get them delivered with the papers. Since i'm a paperboy i get free advertising i.e. i can ask for my leaflets to be put in papers.

![]() | What do you mean by with limited results? I'm planning on going around my whole town at around 04:00 in the morning so everyone is in bed and posting them through letter boxes. If people get angry, are they legally allowed to find out that I am running the website by calling my host? Is it completely legal? Like I can't get in any trouble at all for it? |

| Mini Mac | Limited results because many people see that it is not a letter/class it as junk and throw it away. It doesn't matter if you do it at 4am or 4pm, it depends on the person who lives there. Also, wouldn't it look more suspicious if your doing it at night and would the first thing a person wants to wake up to is a business card shoved through their letterbox? I am sure it is legal as we get loads of leaflets from the local Chinese takeaway, Indian takeaway and Pizza takeaway. |

![]() | DONT put stuff through letterboxes in the middle of the night! If anyone hears their letterbox they may be a bit freaked and not a bit happy! |

![]() | I strongly agree with benjyyy. 4AM is practically the middle of the night, or atleast, no one will be awake at that point. I've been doing a paper round for 5 years now, and I'm not legally allowed to go posting them after 9PM just because it is too late. People don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night if you accidentally let the letterbox slam down too hard, and I'm sure some people could even mistake it for a break in. Your better off delivering them in the day, and after all, whats the harm? Its perfectly legal to deliver any adverts through letterboxes (within reason), and your just advertising freebiejeebies. They can't do anything more than throw it in the bin or ask you to take it back. |

| Super Moderator | 1) Limited results because: you can only reach so many people with business cards, because it depends on the person living there... most people will throw it away, which is a waste of a business card and one less potential customer. If you had a website it doesn't matter if someone clicks off your site as it has cost you nothing (eg the cost of each business card) There's no harm in posting them at a reasonable time of day, but I would research the area you deliever too and target certain types of people... eg (not being racist) deliever to council estates rather than old peoples homes etc. 2) Tesco... well you should ask first... they will of course say NO. Therefore if they would say no to you asking then why would it be any different if they catch you littering their store? It is propbably not illegal, but it will be against the stores poilcies. I say "be careful" because if you are caught littering their store then you will most probably be kicked out and/or banned!
