Business Cards

I thought I'd get some from VistaPrint and leave a few around busy places etc.

Since I am not very artistic (understatement of the year!), I am asking if anyone could give me some advice when looking at business card design (images, what to put on it, where to put it, what to write on it etc.).

If anyone else uses this method, it would be good to see other people's designs aswell.

Thanks.

Have you tried using the simple designer on Vistaprint? It's really simple to use.

That's all I did and I think they look pretty decent! i'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

Urgh, I hate that company. They have such a bad work ethic.

That is all.

They spam as much as they can get away with. They pester you a lot if you ever give them your email for anything.

They somehow manage to send their 50 'free' business cards with extortionate postage and packaging charges. I got a huge camera lens packaged and delivered for less than they charge for P+P!

I also find their website overbearingly drawn out, because they slip in every 5 seconds something else you can buy.

I know it is important for them to capitalise as much of the custom that they get, but in my opinion that have simply overdone it.

There are a few similar opinions here: Vistaprint Sucks - 10% People Agree (26 opinions)

But by all means do not let me put you off them if you like using them. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the actual orders or anything.

I've NEVER had spam and use them fairly often!

I agree their P&P is too high and too long, but its worth it for the prices.

That's called marketing, and it works! I bought a few extra things coz they were cheaper when I bought them together!

Cheers, good design and the slogan is clever too. How successful has it been? (I'm guessing that you don't know exactly how successful it has been, but have you seen an increase in your sign-up/green rate).

P.S. Love the stamper idea but could you get sued if you put it on some wrong places (like bus stop, could be classed as vandalism)

Havent really started giving them away yet, left a few on trains though! I used to hand them out in town outside GAME and did pretty well!

The stampers for all the newspapers you see on trains and busses... whack em on blank spaces and front pages! Easier than writing our your site and slogan every time!

The books to interest people in classes at uni.

The post its for those at work!

They all have their purpose and gets the name out there!

May I recommend MOO | Custom Business Cards, MiniCards, Postcards and Stickers | moo.com? They are a great alternative to vistaprint.

I was thinking of doing just this! How did it go (as in what is 'pretty well'?)

The trick is with the spam from vistaprint, is to set up a filter on Gmail making the messages marked as read, moved to a folder called vistaprint offers, and skipping the inbox. Now whenever I want vistaprint email-only deals, I just go into my vistaprint folder and I have thousands of emails

I just used an email account that I rarely check.

I got 250 'free' business cards and a 'free' stamper. Only cost me P&P, which is quite expensive, but hopefully it will be worth it.

Quick question, I have been collecting the FIFA World Cup stickers and I am going to sell them on ebay, will it be breaking the rules if I put in a business card in the envelope. It is no like I am selling the idea, just giving them a bit extra for their money, and am I also likely to get lots of negative feedback with people thinking it is a scam.

Thanks.

First of all, I don't know what the postage was but I'm sure your item comes from Belgium so that might explain the higher than usual price.

Secondly, putting a card in with things someone buys is ok as some people do it. They cant leave you negative feedback as they havent bought your card, they have bought the stickers

That would explain it.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure as I am new to ebay and I don't want to get a negative feedback when I have just started!

So for 250 "free" business cards, what is the expensive postage cost likely to be?

Depends how quickly you want it.

14 days = ~£7
7 days = ~£10
3 days = ~£15 (I think)

Nice. Will hopefully be getting mine soon. Trying to think of some promotional products that I could get, such as pens or USBs, but you have to buy around £200 at a time.

I've just ordered mine from VistaPrint.

What do we all think. I think simple, but effective.

I have ordered 500, though I would go all out! plus £5 delivery. Can't really knock spending a tenner on it really!
