![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm sorry if this seems stupid but I have no idea about this sort of thing. 1. Why a netbook? Will a laptop work? 2. If it's all to do with Bluetooth, would an iPhone or something with a dongle thingy work? 3. What is a dongle??.... I get (I think) that it's a transmitter to increase range, but are there any phones out there with a range comparable? 4. Are there issues with advertising in public areas like shopping centres?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 5. Would there be issues if people signed up from their phone there and then with them being the same ips etc? are they the same ip's if people are using a free wireless network?

2. iPhone work nor any other phone its windows based software which sends out the adverts via your chosen software. 3. Dongle is a bluetooth adaptor normally via USB. 4. Its 100% legal as the person who's phone you send the signal to has to accept the incoming advert. 5. If people use the same wireless connection in say a shopping centre then yes they will all be placed on hold, but the way I see it people will check out the site later on a pc as its much easier to read and signup etc. if they signup via their own phone using gprs etc then it will be ok. the shopping centre managers may not approve of it but lets face it how will they know who is sending out the signal ?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OK, thanks for all that/ I'm also seeing Vista compat issues. I'm looking for a dongle with more than 100m that is compatible with Vista and not having much luck?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | all standard b/tooth dongles give only up to 100 meters, which if you think about it in a shopping centre will give you up to 300 ft radius, if you get sat down in the food courts the customers come to you just take a nice big book and change for the coffee's

![]() | do you know if you can do different adverts on a 'swap' type basis. i work at the slug and lettuce, and my manager said that if i could do 50/50 slug promotion to iMoose promotion he'd let me leave it plugged into the socket, behind the bar (within range of the street) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I work in the food part for Reading Oracle which gets 250,000 people passing thru its doors on a SATURDAY alone!!!, most of which pass by my restaurant to and from the multistory carparks. although i would be targeting people in and around the restaurant sitting down, how long do they need to be within range for such devices / softwares to spit out the promotion? also, if you have a Macbook or something, can you just bosh the software Via parallels? i woulda thought so but am not to sure on hardware restrictions etc???? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Texmex allows you to send out different campaigns re: once 10 people accept it will move to the next campaign then to the next campaign or back to the start etc.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Could I ask how long it takes to send? ie for people just walking past? Also, if they accept when they're out of range ie don't check their phone until an hour later, will it still get the message through?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | they have to accept within range or it will time out, sending your advert is like anything you send digital, the bigger it is the longer it takes, my adverts are 25kbs and are instant.
