Car Boot Sales

For my sins I have agreed to rub shoulders with the great unwashed this weekend and do a car boot sale *shudder*.

But I guess it's an opportunity to give out some of my free business cards. I've also printed off a few A3 posters which I'll stick across the front of our table - has a picture of an iPhone and my website emblazoned across it.

I'll let y'all know how I get on. If I get a green or 2 it'll be worth the early start and the various unidentified smells.

I like the idea, we went to a carboot yesterday, and it was actually clean, if you want to avoid the smellies try going away from the ice cream van!

Haha I'm contemplating doing a boot this weekend but it's so easy to find something better to do!

Sounds like a bit of a plan though! If it's anything like where I live you'll be covered in teen parents looking for something for nothing! It could actually be a gold mine!!

I wonder if there are any rules against having a stall just promoting freebies.

Like you could put up signs and wear a t shirt simply saying talk to me to get free gifts.

Then have proof pictures and information slips for people to take away to get themselves gifts. Whilst also being able to explain to them about the freebie sites.

I dont think you would want to just do the freebies, you could sell stuff to meet the cost of your table, and it gets everyone looking, you could just make half the stall a big advert and get your mate to sell the stuff while you talk to the peoples or even better, since people who love going to carboots are usually lazy, you could use a laptop and a wireless internet dongle thingy and see if they would sign up over that. Just an idea.

using the wireless dongle would be against the rules as it would still give you the same ip I imagine, but I could be wrong.

I'm still debating whether or not to go mental on printing some posters n stuff this afternoon to take with me tomorrow morning - do you think you managed to sniff out any green (not the usual car boot kind

) whilst you were there?

I remember doing car boot sales. Once made a grand total of 250 quid! Wish you luck!

Did it this morning, made £120 so not bad going. Not much interest in the free iPhone posters but I spoke to few people and gave out about 10 cards. Everyone I spoke to said they'd have a look so I might get 1 or 2 greens from it.

Not the best method in the world though.

Yeah, it wouldnt look too good now i think about it, but hey, ideas create debate.
I guess you could try it but i doubt you would get anything from it. its too bad you cant do a conditional sale on ebay or something
