Yes, but I'm unsure why. Looking into the FAQ section, I think its because when I signed up, I didn't use my actual facebook account - I just made a new one up on the spot. They don't allow "fake" people - so if you could get the voucher through your regular account, I think that it would then be fine.

I won't be doing it again, but I'm pretty sure that the only problem was the one I highlighted above. I know that they don't have an issue with the actual "freebie related" ads, as long as you explain that you need to complete an offer & refer friends to get your freebie.

Too much bother, just gunna concentrate on SEO me thinks

Yes we still have our regular accounts. Just the "fake" accounts we made for the voucher got banned.

So maybe you were banned for the same reasons that mcgrou gave. Did anybody got his (or her) regular acoount banned?

Nah, my regular account is fine - although I did actually create my regular account after making the one to get the voucher! :P

Oh and I just thought I'd say, if it turns out such good results, why not pay for the adverts? They're not expensive - could be a nice little experiment. As I said though, I'm not going to bother with them anymore

If you have any questions about your advertising campaign, please visit our Help page at http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=409.

Sincerely,

The Facebook Adverts Team
This was sent a day ago, I only just logged into that email account to check if they had unsuspended me or anything...

That account is frozen... I cannot login to cancel the account and they say if I do not logout I will start being charged for ads on my card...

Should I ring my bank and cancel my card to stop any charges being made??

I don't think it's necessery to cancel your card, but you should ring the Facebook Advert Team ASAP instead of your bank! Beside, I believe that cancelling your credit card without any (good) reason affects your Credit Score.

Do you know where I can find a contact telephone number for them? I have looked all over but to no avail. Heck, I couldn't even find an email address on their site, I ended up finding one on someone's blog.

I contacted my bank this morning and they said there is absolutely nothing I can do but to close my bank account and reopen a new one. Which I think is absolutely bullsh*t because if you suspect someone has stolen your card the bank can put a block on all charges... Why can't they do this for me in this situation?

I'll have a look again for a contact telephone number for Facebook. If I can't find one, I'm going to go down to my local branch and see if I can get this sorted.

I don't understand the problem? if your account has been closed then surley all new adverts will be stoped? hence no further charges?

Your bank can not do anything really, you authorised the card payment, you can't just change your mind, you need to be sorting this with facebook and not with your bank.

As I have said before, it appears facebook don't allow the advertising of free gift/incentive websites on it, did you take the time to read their terms and conditions?

Hi Jon,

That's exactly what I thought would have happened when the account was suspended. But a day after the account was suspended, I received an emailing saying my Adverts voucher was running low and that my card would be charged once it had ran out...

Clearly they are still running my ads and I have no access to the service to cancel it. It's not a matter of me changing my mind, it's the fact that I cannot access a service which they are intending on charging me for - with no way for me to cancel it.

Again, as has been said before, the reason my account (and mcgrou's) were suspended was due to using a fake name during registration, not the actual advert itself. Hence why my advert is still running.

Surely when they suspend an account, they would think to cancel all ties to that account - including Facebook Adverts?

I have tried contacting Facebook on 3 seperate email addresses, which have yet to respond.

When did you receive the email and when did you reply?

Multiple accounts on facebook is a big no no, as is multiple accounts anywhere for that matter

I received the emailing stating my voucher was running low on the 10th March, about a day after I realised my account had been suspended.

I replied late last night when I actually checked my email for that account.

Id guess the team that deals with the advertising work on a 9-5 basis, failing that attempt to make contact with Facebook again, going via your bank is not a option really as you did authorise your bank to pay Facebook.

Yeah I understand that I did authorize payment. But the fact remains that since they have suspended my account, they would be charging me for a service I have no access or control over - which I am pretty sure is against the law. (Or immoral to say the least!)

Over the phone, my bank told me the only option I had would be to cancel my current bank account and open a new one. Which they actually advised me to do anyway since I am still using an under 16s account and I am 19!

and creating a duplicate facebook account to make use of a voucher of free advertising with no intention of using some paid advertising is not immoral?

For all you know your adverts may well have been suspended along with your account.

Yes, I understand. But since the vouchers were available to anyone who signed up to that application (and still are) - technically I am not defrauding them of *REAL* money as they would be doing if they charged me for a service I have no access to.

As you say, my adverts may have been suspended and the email may have been automatically sent on the day of my suspension but got delayed somewhere along the way.

I don't want to get into an arguement about it, as I know I am in the wrong for signing up falsely in the first place. I just thought I should put a warning up to anyone thinking of making a new Facebook account for advertising. Also, as I knew mcgrou had an account suspended also, to warn him that he may be facing the same situation.

Well I have opened a new bank account, and closed my old Under 16s account. Halifax said there is no way Facebook can charge me now, so that's a weight off my shoulders. And I also have a shiny new Student Current Account.

Let this be a lesson to myself :P
