Question about Lovefilm

Can anyone answer this question?

I have signed up to Lovefilm as part of the deal to get a free PS3, but I'd like to stay with them afterward, so I'll just let me subscrption roll on.

However, I'm getting people asking me if they can cancel their free trial at any time. I went onto my own account, clicked Cancel, just to see what would be there and it gave me a phone number to call.

I then looked at the T's and C's and it says quite clearly you can cancel at anytime. It says "However, by subscribing you agree that we may dispatch your first disc within that seven working day period and you acknowledge that by agreeing to this, this cancellation option is not available to you if we have already assigned your first disc for dispatch."

So that's understandable, BUT people are going to ask me questions, will the cancellation option be available to them after they've sent back their first DVD? I just want someone with experience with this to tell me.

I know it's frowned upon to talk about cancelling offers, and I understand that. Plus, like I say I'm not going to cancel personally, but if I'm relying on others to get greens then I want to give them NOTHING BUT THE FACTS!

Any help appreciated.

The fact is that if they do not wish to stay with lovefilm after the trial or even after the first dvd, they may cancel it if they wish. But, like you they may decide to keep it.

Thats the way I understand it too. Just make sure they have received and sent back atleast one DVD though. I'd ask them to wait till Lovefilm confirm they have received it back too. It is a great service so they may well choose to keep it anyway and all this worrying would be for nothing.

Yes you can cancel at any time i did phone that number and they cancel your account!

But i phoned when i had the DVD AT MY HOUSE

When I was thinking about signing up for a Lovefilm free trial I came across a lot of negative comments from people who had trouble when it came to cancelling their trials. A lot of the time it seemed that they still took the direct debits from peoples accounts after they had cancelled.
I went ahead anyway and when it came time to cancel I phoned the number (you have to do this) and they just asked what the reason was and went ahead and closed the account.

I think it is only fair to give a company credit when things go well, well done Lovefilm.

i stuck with mine for a few months after, and would have carried on but i was skint and it was just another direct debit sapping my account slowly every month, it was a hassle to cancel though as you did have to ring, could get away with doing it over the internet, and this indian lady was asking me all sorts of questions like 'what is boxing day' and what is the lowest temperature in the uk, lol.

I think the safest way of doing it is to call the number a few days before you plan to send off your last set of DVD's, then the next day or so after they receive your last dvds, you'll get an email confirming it. Then they wont send you anymore and thus wont charge you.

Ona slightly seperate issue...how long does it take to get your first lovefilm DVD? I've got about 5 all queued and want to make sure I have the option of cancelling in advance of receiving DVD/sending it back within the 14 days?

Any help appreciated.

I got mine within 5 days, but I just asked for one, and sent it back. Got the green 28 days after signing up.

i called that number after i recieved my free dvd and canceled it and it was fine but i am thinking of signing up and staying because its so cheap and i lovefilm s
